OKIJIN
My second attempt at a Xyz monster When your opponent attacks this monster you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card. The detached Material becomes your opponents new target. For each Material detached this card gains 600 DEF.
Trebuchet MS
When your opponent attacks targets this monster for an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card gains 600 DEF, also if the detached Xyz Material is a monster, Special Summon it, and the attack now becomes your opponents new targets that monster. For each Material detached this card gains 600 DEF. Modified the effect such that you can make the Xyz Material a proper attack target. You can't attack cards in the Graveyard, after all. Not to mention it will cover cases where the Xyz Material could be S/Ts since we have Spells and Traps that can attach themselves as Xyz Material. Thing is, with stats of 0/0 and mere DEF increase, this card does nothing by itself other than be a wall, and if you want it to be a respectable wall, you're going to end up jumping a few hoops just to make it hit its maximum potential of 3000 DEF. At which point, your opponent just kills it with a Fissure or something without even bothering to attack, since you do get to Special Summon your investments into making this card, which could lead to more threatening Xyz plays. Which then leads the player to wondering "why bother Summoning this card when I can make multiple Rank 6 monsters?" and end up not playing this card at all. Maybe if you give it threatening stats, or the ability to have it boost its ATK, or an additional effect that forces the opponent to attack it and let its effect trigger more often, then it might be better. Also, Mirrodin called. They want their Darksteel artifacts back.
