ihop
Well, this isn't a terribly realistic prediction, it's more based on my opinions on how the game should be like Forbidden Sixth Sense I don't think either this or return need any explaining. They're ridiculous, Sixth Sense is horrible luck-based and basically gives you a 1 in 3 chance of winning the game, and Return is basically pay half your life to win the duel. Return from the Different Dimension Machine Duplication It's easily abusable, creates ridiculous combos if you can get it off and it limits Trooper's place on the list. Rekindling Auto-win cards such as this are rubbish for the game IMO. Limited Spellbook Magician of Prophecy Blue Boy is one of the key components of the deck, being required to resolve Master and Fate. It's barely recyclable and it means that after Books have made a play once they can't make anywhere near as convincing a play next turn as they're limited in what they can search by their lack of Blue Boy. Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms I decided to limit all the big Dragons as they're also rather problematic in their own decks e.g. Mermails and Dragunity. With them all at 1 the dedicated deck is dead and they're limited in their ability to support other decks. Royal Decree Skill Drain Vanity's Emptiness Gozen Match Rivalry of Warlords Mistake Konami took a step in the right direction limiting Macro, Fissure and Soul Drain - cards that single-handedly shut down entire deck strategies and have only limited counters (only MST in most cases) are in my opinion degenerate and shouldn't be allowed at any amount where you can draw into the consistantly. The fact that someone won a YCS basically playing Dragon hate underlines this. Abyss-Sphere Definitely one of the big problems in Mermail, it's so chainable and puts massive pressure on the opponent. Hitting it also makes Megalo plays less worthwhile. Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 Burei It does so much for one card - it can create OTKs out of nowhere and it's also a 2600 beater that can flip things in its own right. Karakuri Geargia are a pretty ridiculous deck. Number 11: Big Eye Evilswarm Ophion It's the big boss of Evilswarm Constellar Sombre Constellar's Xyz aren't as hittable as Evilswarm's, they also don't really do as much as individual cards and don't put as much pressure on the opponent. I'd prefer to hit this card as it's such a lucksack, and Constellar's Xyz can also do more against an already established field than Evilswarm can. Black Whirlwind It's a source of massive advantage, basically turning Blackwings into Gadgets. It shouldn't have gone to 3. Fire Formation - Tenki It's a type-specific searcher and then some. 1 is enough. Semi-limited Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind Was limited very soon after release, mainly because it was so good in Blackwings. Nowadays a 1300 monster that halves ATK is kinda underwhelming outside its own deck. Chaos Sorcerer It's not really a problematic card, and there's not much support for it anyway these days. Putting it to 1 was a weird choice anyway. Unlimited Baby Dragons (whatever their full names are) With Dragons limited they don't really do much other than bring out a Dragon as you can't search them with a Dragon and then use them to get the same Dragon. Gold Sarcophagus Was a questionable limit in the first place and its limit didn't really have any relevant effect anyway. It's not a broken card in any way and is fine at 3. Neo-Spacian Grand Mole What's wrong with it being at 3? Reasoning Why is this thing even on the list? Monster Gate We're not in Airblade Turbo format anymore. I can't help thinking I've missed something v. important, so if there's something obvious missing chances are I've just forgotten about it rather than actually omitted it on purpose. Other than that, feel free to criticise etc if you don't agree with what I've done
Zincoshine
tl;dr of OPs continuous trap cards: Hi, my name is iHop. I hate continuous trap cards and instead of using royal decree I want to ban them all including royal decree so I can use my kewl exodia, traptrix, and burns decks to win every match. lol XDDDDD exdee!!!!11!one1! Zincoshine
I'll just ignore all continous trap cards you mentioned and respond to the rest: Well, this isn't a terribly realistic prediction, it's more based on my opinions on how the game should be like Forbidden Sixth Sense pretty much Return from the Different Dimension I don't think it is being abused to the point that it needs to be banned. Machine Duplication No it's not easily abusable, what are you talking about? Even inferno reckless summon is better than this. Rekindling Yeah, I see your point, it's like limiter removal, a lucksack OTK card. Limited Spellbook Magician of Prophecy If there is any monster in the game that can be classified as homosexual it's this one. Everything about this card is just ridiculously "ho yay". Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms Well, we could do what TBC did and have these limited while the baby dragons are unlimited.... I dunno. Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 Burei put a nuke or penguin soldier somewhere. I have not had problems with karakuri in a very long time. Number 11: Big Eye It would make no difference, it needs to be BANNED. Evilswarm Ophion This is perhaps the one thing everyone here agrees on. Constellar Sombre no opinion Black Whirlwind This was a big problem for me at the beginning of the new format. I guess it still although I don't feel it anymore. Fire Formation - Tenki ok.... although maybe RotA could be put at 2 with this at 2 instead. Semi-limited Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind No, this card can do too much. It needs to stay limited. Chaos Sorcerer I think it was put to 1 because of that brief period when chaos dragons were the top deck right after BLS's unban. yeah it wouldn't hurt having this at 2. 3 is too much though unless BLS gets banned. Unlimited Baby Dragons (whatever their full names are) ok if your previous idea on e-drags goes through. Gold Sarcophagus you want a universal searcher at 3? might as well make sangan unlimited with your logic here. Reasoning it's extremely likely that it will go off the list in january. Monster Gate How long has this been on the list anyway? I can't help thinking I've missed something v. important, so if there's something obvious missing chances are I've just forgotten about it rather than actually omitted it on purpose. Other than that, feel free to criticise etc if you don't agree with what I've done
Delibirb
tl;dr of OPs post: Hi, my name is iHop. Well hello there pot, I'd like to introduce you to kettle. Your forbidden list makes sense, and while I may not like it it seems like a pretty accurate prediction. Your limiting of a number of Continuous Trap cards is very, not a good prediction. There is nothing inherently wrong with these cards, nor can they be abused, nor are they exceptionally difficult to get rid of. There is nothing inherently wrong with Number 11, Rulers just made it seem so. Ophion is annoying, but if your Deck relies on getting Level 5+ monsters with no way to function otherwise, or lacks a consistent method to be able to deal with the eventual Ophion, it isnt a fault of the card. You want to hit Tenki again? That just isnt nice. I dont really have any opinions on this choice as every Fire Formation card looks the same to me. :P I might be biased, but Grand Mole is really a card that doesnt deserve to be put to 3. Anything else I didnt reply on was because I think it is a decent prediction, or I dont have any authority/knowledge on how much its new position would affect the game. goddamnit names are a pain
Sigh...some logic is present here, but needs work. Big Eye is a terrible, terrible card. DR or not. Ophion needs a hit, and it is the fault of the card. That's like saying its your decks fault when Shock Master calls Spells. Synchros are ALL 5+ before they do anything. Forgive me for not being able to kill Ophion with a Junk Synchron and a Formula Synchron. To the rest of the list. If I didn't address it, I agree with it. Machine Duplication It's easily abusable, creates ridiculous combos if you can get it off and it limits Trooper's place on the list. No, its not. Tuning Ware is about it. Don't know well enough, but based on what I see, I agree for the most part. When you bring back the baby dragons at 3, this is somewhat logical. But not completely. Royal Decree No, not needed. Shuts down traps, big whoop. Decks don't run on Traps these days. MST also gets rid of this card, but its not really an argument. Skill Drain This basically tosses out the essence of Stun decks. Its a strategy that stops field use. Grave use and hand use is more of a thing these days. Vanity's Emptiness I agree. Gozen Match Rivalry of Warlords Eh...not 100% sure here. It would be very nice to get rid of these, as these do screw up the game. Heck, I'd love it because I hated cards like these and I liked the idea to toss them out. Mistake Konami took a step in the right direction limiting Macro, Fissure and Soul Drain - cards that single-handedly shut down entire deck strategies and have only limited counters (only MST in most cases) are in my opinion degenerate and shouldn't be allowed at any amount where you can draw into the consistantly. The fact that someone won a YCS basically playing Dragon hate underlines this. Yes. Abyss-Sphere Definitely one of the big problems in Mermail, it's so chainable and puts massive pressure on the opponent. Hitting it also makes Megalo plays less worthwhile. I think Abysslinde is the issue, along with this. Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 Burei It does so much for one card - it can create OTKs out of nowhere and it's also a 2600 beater that can flip things in its own right. Karakuri Geargia are a pretty ridiculous deck. If this is the one I think it is, yes, it deserves a hit. Maybe down to 2? E-Teleport with it? Number 11: Big Eye Evilswarm Ophion It's the big boss of Evilswarm YES. Constellar Sombre Constellar's Xyz aren't as hittable as Evilswarm's, they also don't really do as much as individual cards and don't put as much pressure on the opponent. I'd prefer to hit this card as it's such a lucksack, and Constellar's Xyz can also do more against an already established field than Evilswarm can. I think the Evilswarm one needs a hit too. I mean, these things are ridiculous. Black Whirlwind It's a source of massive advantage, basically turning Blackwings into Gadgets. It shouldn't have gone to 3. Two sounds logical, not one or 3. Fire Formation - Tenki It's a type-specific searcher and then some. 1 is enough. Agree. Gold Sarcophagus Was a questionable limit in the first place and its limit didn't really have any relevant effect anyway. It's not a broken card in any way and is fine at 3. No, just no. Searches anything in deck, banishes, etc. Neo-Spacian Grand Mole What's wrong with it being at 3? It trolls, bounces ace monsters, and forces your opponent to attack it to do anything. CED does the same thing, and where is it? Limited. This is better than that. Reasoning Why is this thing even on the list? This should stay on here, since it has no real cost. Grave fills, SS, no real way to guess at times. Monster gate has tribute, so its better. I can't help thinking I've missed something v. important, so if there's something obvious missing chances are I've just forgotten. T.G. Striker at 3, bro. xD
Zauls
I agree with most of this list, but you've forgotten to put Striker and Wall of Revealing Light back to 3, since they have no place to be on the list. I also would probably bring T-King back up to 2. Machine Dupe is one of those cards that might create problems in the future, but isn't doing currently. From the game-state's point of view, banning it is better safe than sorry, though it obviously won't happen so Konami can squeeze some more profit out of new Machine support. I am also a fan of limiting what I call the "you can't play Yu-Gi-Oh" cards like Skill Drain, Decree etc. They are skill-less and completely shut down decks, thus demoting diversity in the format. I never thought about hitting Gozen and Rivalry myself, though it is interesting. The list is pretty sound if you're trying to better the game state, but most of it unfortunately will not happen. If this goes even to 2 I am quitting Yu-Gi-Oh again. By the way, penguin soldier is more of a troll than grand mole. If you are battling against battlin boxers one well placed penguin soldier can completely destroy the entire match for them.
licorso
I agree with most of the list, except if they don't hit the big Dragon Rulers, gold sarcophagus will still be limited because you're pretty much getting 2 dragons into your hand (one from gold Sarcophagus, and one from whatever dragon ruler you searched for.) i can also see Magician of faith coming off the banned list. i mean now with all the good old staple cards they had back when it was at 3 (Raigeki, heavy Storm, Harpies Feather Duster, Pot of Greed, The Forceful Sentry, etc) gone, what other game-breaking spell cards are still here? ihop
No, its not. Tuning Ware is about it. I even said in the same sentence the main card it's an issue with, which is a card that I'd like to see at 3, not to mention being able to use it on Cyber Dragon Core (when it comes out) to get 2 Cyber Dragons. Also, this video explains some of the issues I have with the continuous Trap "can't play yugioh" cards, I think Hoban touches on the subject when he's going through his trap lineup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOcSgvTiURE And Zincoshine, next time you want to make a comment actually say something worthwhile rather than making an idiotic generalisation based on what a guy thinks.
