gmaster1991
During either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated, you can discard 1 Normal Monster to negate that effect. During each of your End Phases, banish one Normal Monster from your Graveyard or destroy this card. vs. Effect Veiler: + Can negate the effects of monsters at any time as opposed to simply your opponent's Main Phase. + The monster's effect is permanently negated as long as they are on the field even when Void Gaze has been removed from the field. vs. Skill Drain: + Can negate the effects of monsters that are currently not face-up on the field. + Can be activated on your first turn as opposed to having to wait a turn. How this card is balanced: - The fact that this card requires Normal Monsters means that very few decks can use it for a prolonged period of time. - Cannot negate continuous effects because they do not "activate". - Still vulnerable to S/T removal. - May not stop effects that can activate multiple times such as Judgement Dragon (credited to TrueMalice) This is my very first card, so I would like to know how I did with it. I put comparisons to two other commonly used 'monster effect negation' cards because I had the competitive metagame in mind when designing it. Manpole
I like it, I mean I would probably never use it because I don't like normal monsters (save Gemini, which this wouldn't work with). But I can see me getting pissed at an opponent who would run it, which is always a good sign of it being a good card. It would be hard to really abuse this card because you have to be careful when activating it, as it cannot negate an effect that's already activated, so you would need it face-up at all times which would require a Graveyard of Normal monsters. Anyways nice card, especially for your first, most newer posted cards have OP effects and a plain white background on the image (even though the image is unimportant (generally) it still bugs me). Anyways, keep it up!
Therrion
Very solid card, quite honestly. You did a fine job at balancing it, and I couldn't think of a Deck that could abuse it to such a length to deem it better than good. Perhaps some odd Normal Fairy-Type Deck with Tethys and Heart of the Underdog? I know not, and don't think even then it to be overpowered. Haven't critiqued a card in centuries, so while this is a rather weak review, I hope you find it acceptable. +1 for your performance.
TrueMalice
OCG fix:
During either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated: you can discard 1 Normal Monster; negate the activation. During each of your End Phases, banish 1 Normal Monster from your Graveyard or destroy this card.
This strikes me as weak. It can't negate the effects of monsters that activate multiple times per turn (e.g. Judgment Dragon) and the discard requirements are costly enough that the additional maintenance cost just isn't needed. Here's my suggestion:
During either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated: you can discard 1 Normal Monster; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.
Having something this powerful isn't going to make Normal Monster decks lethal. I wasn't intending to allow this card to destroy opposing monsters because I wanted to compare it to Effect Veiler or Skill Drain. I can see your point though. This card is weak... If it's any consolation, it's also common rarity.

Here's an idea to enhance its power without making it unlike those other cards: make it a Continuous Trap. You won't have to pay the upkeep cost until you actually need to use the card, and your opponent can actually be caught off guard by it.
