Seems a bit underpowered for a Rank 5, though.  I'd do something like:

 

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it can attack your opponent directly this turn, and if it does, it's ATK is doubled during the Damage Step only. Other monsters cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.

The effect you said sound a lot better. But I think I should lower its ATK a bit, since it can do 8000 damage easily.
