AGATHODAIMON BANGTAIL COW
Heavy's banning led the the hitting of several key trap cards, like BTH from 2 to 1, the banning of Judgment, and Compulsory being Limited from its previously Unlimited position. Furthermore, Thunder King Rai-Oh, who has this card as his secondary effect, is only Limited and eats your NS (but on the other side, shuts off searching with a decent body). This card still negates any Special Summon that wasn't done by a card effect. This card is still Unlimited. This card is even costless. Pros: + Immediately takes out any Extra Deck monster your opponent plays as well as some other cards such as BLS, Chaos Sorc, Judgment Dragon (if that becomes relevant), Master Hyperion (again, if that becomes relevant), and Cyber Dragon (ditto). + In the case of (semi)-nomi and Extra Deck monsters, the Summon was outright negated, which prevents your opponent from reviving it. + It's a Counter Trap, which means your opponent can't Lance their monster or otherwise try to save it. Unless 7 Tools becomes a thing or something. Cons: - Completely ineffective against Special Summons that are due to card effects, such as CotH, FF Spirit, and so. Also, Normal Summoning bypasses this, which could lead to situations where players don't go into their Synchro/Xyz just because they predict a Black Horn to be Set, and will just beat the opponent in the face with the materials for the turn. It sucks to be dead. - It makes people have to learn what Special Summons this card negates, and which ones it doesn't. Ew, learning. Furthermore, DN will be full of scrubs who will probably play this in response to every SS, or worse, even a NS. Headaches ensue. - Doesn't do jack to Prophecies, I think. And if Scraps become a thing, they're going to laugh their ass off when you negate their Scrap Dragon with this. If this becomes maindeck material, it'll probably be what you side out against certain matchups. And then if CotH becomes a popular choice... I may be talking out of my ass now. The horn may be black, but the opportunity is golden. Or, at least, as golden as it'll ever be.

Mugendramon
Emptiness is better. And that's subpar.
goddamnit names are a pain
Emptiness is better. And that's subpar. I would say that Emptiness is bad for the game, as opposed to this. But yeah, it is somewhat better. Negating a Summon sometimes can't be beat though.

goddamnit names are a pain
Emptiness and Black Horn. Fair enough. I am just butthurt against Vanity. Vanity's says "I have a boss, you can not" Horn says "Yeah, bring the play, but no" Well. I guess Vanity's is better.
evilfusion
That uncomfortable moment when I use Advanced Heraldry Art and Xyz Summon...and my opponent flips this. It actually works. (The Xyz Summon is not part of Heraldry Art's resolution).

AGATHODAIMON BANGTAIL COW
Emptiness is better. And that's subpar. Eh, I forgot about Emptiness. Negging both kinds of SSes is pretty nice. But seeing as you'd have to flip it before your opponent attempts an Inherent SS (I think), the opponent gets a chance to expend a card to pop something + the Emptiness due to its suicide clause. Black Horn is just "a Set backrow" until it activates and it's too late, and removing it as a threat would be similar to removing TT or BTH. And while Emptiness's suicide clause does allow the user to just drop it when they go for a push, I can't help but imagine that there are those rare embarrassing moments where you can't take out your own Emptiness. And unless your opponent runs the Extra Deck choice they were going for @2-3, Black Horn effectively removes that card for the rest of the game whereas Emptiness would only stop it from hitting the field at that moment. Maybe I'm thinking about this too hard. And I suppose it would depend on how many cards Emptiness can chain to and screw up in the format.
