buznet
I'm happy to introduce a new deck after a long time, which i believe in, and think it's worth showing.Grasswhistle Archtype - For a long time now I wanted to make a deck focusing on defense-position monsters, but this kind of cards can't really make damage by attacking and are very slow. that's why a certain effects were needed. The deck is using a new mechanic where cards activate their effects when being revealed by a card effect.P.S. used the term set monster sometimes cause it's shorter, for now it doesn't look like a big deal.UPDATE: IT IS A PLANT NOW, NOT A FAIRY! You choose the attack targets for your opponent's attacks. Once per turn, you can reveal 1 set monster you control, and if it is a "Grasswhistle" monster, you can add 1 "Grasswhistle" monster from your deck to your hand, except "Lealf The Grasswhistle Peacekeepr".Explanation: The engine, a card that uses set monsters for getting the combo pieces. It's first effect lets him select a set monster you control as the new target for attacks, which usually has great defense and capabilities as you will see. When this card if flipped face-up, while you control another "Grasswhistle" monster: draw 1 card. Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position.Explanation: Simple combo - you set this(Droid) 1st turn, it survives. 2nd turn, you normal Lealf from above, he reveals Droid to search, then you can flip droid to draw and re-set it. a draw and a search for having the right combo pieces, seems right. Droid is the PERFECT attack target for Lealf's 1st effect. if your opponent attacks he will give you a draw, and takes the chance of even not killing this card. But all this engine doesn't make a single point of damage... let's start being offensive! When this card is being revealed by a card effect, you can return 1 card your opponent controls to their hand. You can only use this effect of "Grasswhistle Maiden of Physalis" once per turn. When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can change this card to face-down defense position.Explanation: The offensive monster, if being revealed, it can hurt the opponent, while also clearing his way for attacks. after attacked, he can re-set himself for doing the same next turn. During damage calculation, if a defense position "Grasswhistle" monster you control battles an opponent's monster: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; the DEF of your monster becomes double it's original DEF, until the end phase of this turn.Explanation: The kalout of the deck, a very existing card! it saves your weak monsters so they can keep generate the advantages. But this might no be enough... maybe we need 1 more card to make this competitive, cause it is slow after all. Lets go to the field! When your opponent takes damage from a battle involving a "Grasswhistle" monsteryou control, destroy the opponent's monster.Explanation: the icing on the cake! with this card, your opponent will be much more afraid to attack and trying to stop your combos, while you can use stuff like Seed Squire from above and this card to put damage on board - and destroying a monster. But wait, why will the opp have to attack? he can just summon Bear, pop - right? Activate only when a card effect controlled by your opponent is activated, that targets a set monster you control: Reveal that monster; if it is a "Grasswhistle" monster, change the effect's target to a proper card on your opponent't side of the field (if any).Explanation: The barrier! it's somewhat unique effect lets you reveal your monster, trigger it's effect(being only Maiden for now), and then re-directing the opp effect to itself! And now if anything more is needed, there is an option of playing this spell: Special Summon 1 "Grasswhistle" monster from your graveyard in face-down defense position. Cards that can work in this deck:Forbidden Lance - can protect the 1 attacker you have, while also making every set monster you'v got worth 3k for that battle!Stronghold Guardian - has the effect off: "If a Defense Position monster you control is attacked, during the Damage Step, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to have that monster gain 1500 DEF until the End Phase."lonefire blossom - can get into your most important combo pieces. Kwisatz-Haderach
Nice pictures, reading the first cards i thought it was some kind of parallel-Sylvan archetype, but i think it's not. I don't think your field spell would work very well in present gameplay. Squad's fixes: 1) "that targets a set monster" not "who targets a set monster"; 2) "change the effect's target to a proper card on your opponent't side of the field (if any) not "change the effect's target to a card on your opponent side of the field nstead." since you opponent might not control set cards\monster so you can't apply his eff on him
razzy
Pretty awesome overall and nice pictures. For some corrections Bullets - When you opponent takes battle damage from a battle involving a monster they control and a "Grasswhistle" monster you control: Destroy the opponent's monster. Squad - (maybe change to Counter Trap?) - When an opponent's card targets exactly 1 set monster you control: Reveal that monster, and if it's a "Grasswhistle" monster apply this effect. *Change that target an appropriate card on your opponent's side of the field. PandaBlackOps
Are you going to Add Extra Deck monsters? Because it seems right now the Archetype can only stall and play extremely defensive. None the less it's a amazing Archetype with a unique idea. buznet
mkdynasty - Of course! thank you very much ^^ PandaBlackOps - thank you very much, i think that an xyz will counter the decks strategy of making pluses by having those monsters on field, that's the engine basicly. if i would have to check the deck irl and test, i'l might have found the decks problems and solve with an xyz ^^ but i'l think bout it
