When this card is Special Summoned, select and take control of 1 Level 3 or lower monster your opponent controls.

The selected monster cannot attack this turn and has its ATK and DEF doubled.

If this card were to be destroyed by a card effect, you can change the target of that effect to the selected monster.

Let me get that lore for you:

When this card is Special Summoned: target select and take control of 1 Level 3 or lower monster your opponent controls; take control of that target. The selected monster It cannot attack this turn and has its ATK and DEF are doubled. If this card were to be destroyed by a card effect that targets this card (and no other cards) and would destroy it is activated: You can target a monster you took control of with this card's effect; change the target of that effect now targets to the new target selected monster.

A few things to ask:

  1. Do you permanently take control of the opponent's monster, even after Cyber Hiker leaves the field?
  2. If so, what happens if you have 2 or more monsters under control of the same Cyber Hiker? Do you get to choose which one can become the new target?
  3. What if you took control of a monster that's an illegal target for the card effect threatening Cyber Hiker? Can you change the target to it?

I've been out of the game for a few years now and haven't done cards in ages, they've changed the card grammar since I was last active. ha.

But thanks.

1. Yes

2. I didn't prepare for that scenario, I suppose it would apply to the unique "Cyber Hiker" and thats own selected target, without the ability to share targets.

3. I'm not sure what you mean, as in, if it is targeted, "Cyber Hiker" would be destroyed from that monsters effect? I guess it applies to the official rulings of when a chosen card is officially 'selected'/'targeted'. I would say yes, since the target has been placed and unless the other card effect can negate "Cyber Hiker"s effect then the effect goes through.

Oddly enough when I first read the title of the post, I thought it said Cyber Hitler, then again that's probably what fatigue does to a man.

But overall, Good Card. Though I do admit I do find it somewhat strange how the name fits, but seems surprisingly balanced, for the most part. It is a rather weak Level 4 monster, and it can't just steal another Level 4 to go in for an Xyz, but it does give a major boost to that monster, albeit you need to wait a turn before using it.

Now if you excuse me, I must create Cyber Hitler.

Thanks, I added the attack delay in case there might have been a super powered Level 3. But really this card is a good Tuner or Xyz thief thing.

I made the name based on the image, that's how I used to make all my cards actually.

Suppose I take control of a Machine-Type monster with Cyber Hiker. The opponent attempts to use a card that targets only Warrior-Type monsters to destroy Cyber Hiker. Naturally, the stolen monster isn't a legal target. Can I still change that card effect to target the stolen monster?

I'm not sure on the rulings of that, there are many cards that change targets to a non-specific and many cards that do target specifics, so you'd have to check the rulings of those.

The number of cards that actually change another card's targets are relatively few. The closest I can think of is Shift, but it specifies that the new target has to be a legal one for the offending card effect/attack. So I'll assume Cyber Hiker works that way.

With that in mind...

When this card is Special Summoned: Target select and take control of 1 Level 3 or lower monster your opponent controls; take control of that target, and if you do, place a Control Counter on that target. If this card leaves the field, remove all Control Counters from that target. The selected monster It cannot attack this turn and has its ATK and DEF are doubled. If this card were to be destroyed by a card effect that targets this card (and no other cards) and would destroy it is activated: You can target a monster you control with a Control Counter that would be an appropriate target; change the target of that effect now targets to the new target selected monster.

Control Counters added as a memory aid for tracking which monster is "bonded" to Cyber Hiker. This has the side effect of monsters bonded to different Cyber Hikers being able to take the bullets for the Hikers they're not bonded to, unless you add a "You can only control 1" clause to it.
