This post will be used to be a general display for articles, referencing to every post where an article is present. So without further ado, enjoy the Little Pack of Horrors! And to kick it off we'll be launching with 2 card articles today so that we can really get it on the road, both of which are incredibly powerful generic cards when used in the right hands!
In the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the Pharaoh had to go through many trials and tribulations in order to secure his title as the King of Games while also upholding the safety of the world. The Oricalchos proved to be one of his hardest challenges, even causing him to lose against fan-favorite Rafael! But one of the first challenges he had to face in this arc was an unkillable brute who would just not stay down and one that you'll finally be able to add to your deck... Oricalchos Gigas! When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard by battle or by an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. During the turn you activate this effect, you cannot add cards from your Deck to your hand, except by drawing them through your normal Draw. When this card is Special Summoned in this way: It gains 500 ATK for each time "Oricalchos Gigas" has been Special Summoned by it's own effect this Duel. You can only control 1 "Oricalchos Gigas"As you can see, we retained Gigas' immortality through into the actual card game! Any time Oricalchos Gigs is sent from the field to the Graveyard, it comes back immediately! However, this effect does come with a drawback and a potential way of stopping him... Gigas doesn't tend to play well with others, so you can't add any additional cards to your hand from your Deck through any means other than drawing. This means that you cannot use cards such as Upstart Goblin, Maxx "C" or a searcher such as Reinforcement of the Army if you want to be able to use Gigas' effect! While this does restrain what you can do for the turn, it doesn't mean it's not useful! Your opponent will think twice about attacking into an Oricalchos Gigas if they know it's there, because every time it hits the Graveyard it comes back an additional 500 Points stronger for the rest of the game. This soon begins to rack up the ATK points, especially when they can't find a way to stop him from coming back. But his potential doesn't just stop there! Being a Level 3, it makes him the perfect target for a card such as Crane Crane, a popular combo deck choice among experienced players, so that you can make some of the best Rank 3s out there! This includes the ever-easier to summon Meliae of the Trees, allowing you to get your set-up in Plant Decks for whether you're dumping something like a Dandylion or bringing back a Lonefire Blossom. Of course, it can also be used for the ever strong Ghostrick Alucard or Wind-Up Zenmaines when you're really in a pinch! But players who don't want to use Oricalchos Gigas: Don't fret! This card may seem strong, but most players have a variety of Extra Deck options to deal with it! The first thing that comes to mind is Abyss Dweller, stopping it from coming back from the Graveyard while being stronger than it in Defense Position! This means that it can run over Gigas while also stop it from activating, eliminating the threat! There's also the upcoming Winged Skyblaster Castel, able to detach 2 Xyz Materials to put him back in your opponent's Deck and shuffle him away. Not a fan of those Extra Deck options? No sweat, you can banish him through the effect of Dimensional Prison and also bounce him back to the hand to make him lose of all of those ATK points with the effect of Compulsory Evacuation Device!Oricalchos Gigas is the first of many strong cards featured in the Little Pack of Horrors! Stay tuned for our next article!
LPHR EN058 D - Mind
Mugendramon
Reading this in a british voice completely ruins it. 11/10 I'm not sure what I could constructively say about this since it's actually really well designed. Record is pretty stupid though, since it literally can't draw you anything but discard fodder.
Premier Alexander Romanov
Good to see a balanced version of Gigas, especially with the ATK-gaining effect.Other versions have had trouble with that. Also, I love the parody of the articles from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Strategy site.
Toffee.
I love the way the OP was made. That aside...I love the fact Gigas is a Zombie. It's an interesting touch, and gives it another layer of shenanigans(Pyramid Turtle, Goblin Zombie, etc)Record is interesting, and I like how it's mostly for MP2 plays due to the fact it won't give you much of a drawback and also won't have the potential to mess up your plays, like if you used it during MP1. Althemia
Today we're going to be looking at a card from GX used by one of the most popular characters from the franchise, Aster Phoenix! The Little Pack of Horrors features lots of support for Destiny HEROes as well as the Elemental HEROes, so neither side are shafted out of getting some of their most powerful support! And boy do we have something for you Destiny HERO players today... Introducing D - Mind! Send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; add 1 "Destiny HERO" monster from your Deck to your hand. You cannot Special Summon monsters during the turn you activate this effect, except "Destiny HERO" monsters. You can only activate 1 "D - Mind" per turn. While the original version was more like A Hero Lives, the legal version of D - Mind is your very own searcher for any of your most powerful Destiny HEROes. This all comes to you for the simple cost of sending 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard. It may not seem the strongest, as something like E - Emergency Call for Elemental HEROes does the same effect for free AND isn't restricted. But don't worry, you won't be missing out!D - Mind can be used in a lot of combo decks too, easily getting you access to a card as powerful as Destiny HERO - Malicious to make it just that much more consistent. You can also use something like Destiny Draw on the monster that you add to your hand through the effect of D - Mind, allowing you to turn it into a deck thinning engine while keeping your hand in a good shape and your Graveyard looking spiffy! This also sets the Graveyard up for you to use Destiny HERO - Malicious later on in the game, or you can even use it that turn as it is a Destiny HERO monster! But what if I told you that that's not the scariest part of D - Mind?It can also be used to search one of Aster's final boss monsters, Destiny HERO - Plasma! And since he is a Destiny HERO monster, you can successfully summon him during the turn that you add him to your hand. This makes D - Mind perfect for creating scenarios where you put down a card as powerful as Destiny HERO - Plasma with little effort! Even then, you can add him to your hand just to discard him with the effect of a card such as Trade-In or Destiny Draw, as he meets both requirements! This makes Destiny HERO - Plasma a great card to use in a deck utilizing the Destiny HERO engine! What we have covered today is only a portion of what can be done utilizing the Destiny HERO cards and D - Mind, as even more Destiny HEROes are coming in the Little Pack of Horrors! In the meanwhile, try and figure out what other cool combos you can do with a card like D - Mind in your deck now!
Side note: Akashic Record has been taken down for the time being to be altered. Wasn't happy with the final effect.
