Overhauling my M. Spirit Archetype

Recommended Posts

This will be the new home of my M. Spirit (short for Miracle Spirit) archetype. The archetype is quite large, so I will be posting approximately 4-5 cards a day, most days. The idea with the M. Spirits is to Summon "Miracle Tokens" by doing various things with Spell and Trap cards (bounce, discard, banish, spin, reveal, etc.). They also include a Limitation Text that says "Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field." The idea, being to allow for stronger effects in some of the cards and also to inspire unusual combos Thinking of altering limitation to say cannot be Normal Summoned if...). I will be posting in alphabetical order for the most part. All CnC is welcome. This project has been my baby for some time now and Im always looking to improve it.
Cannot be Summoned if there is another "M. Spirit" monster face-up on the field. Once per turn, you can discard 1 Trap Card; Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF100). While you control this card and at least 1 "Miracle Token", all face-up non-LIGHT monsters on the field are changed to Defense Position and their position cannot be changed, except by card effect. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, you can select 1 Trap Card in your Graveyard and add it to your hand.

Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. When this card is destroyed by battle, you can discard up to 3 Spell Cards; Special Summon "Miracle Tokens" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100) equal to the number of Spell Cards discarded. When all "Miracle Tokens" Summoned by this effect leave the field, you can banish this card in your Graveyard; draw 2 cards.

Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. Once per turn, you can send 1 set Spell or Trap card you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF100). While you control at least 1 face-up "Miracle Token," ignore any Summoning conditions when Normal Summoning level 4 or lower "M. Spirit" monsters.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Monsters

Cannot be Summoned while there is another “M. Spirit” monster face-up on the field. This card cannot be Summoned if there are any DARK monsters in your Graveyard. When your opponent activates a Spell or Trap card, you can Special Summon 1 “Miracle Token” (Spellcaster-type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100). If you control more than 1 “Miracle Token”, your opponent cannot activate any Trap Cards during your turn. Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 “Miracle Token” you control to increase your Life Points by 300.

JmaroDk.jpg

Tribute 1 "M. Spirit" Monster you control. Special Summon, from your Graveyard, 1 "M. Spirit" Monster with 2000 or less ATK. That monster cannot declare an attack this turn.

2re2rer.png

Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. When this card is Normal Summoned, excavate the top 5 cards of your Deck. Send any Spell Cards among them to the Graveyard and Special Summon a number of "Miracle Tokens" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 3/ ATK 300/ DEF 100) equal to the number of cards sent to the Graveyard this way. Return any other excavated cards to your Deck. When a "Miracle Token" is destroyed by battle while you control this face-up card, you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 Level 5 or higher LIGHT monster you control and 1 Level 5 or higher DARK monster your opponent controls. Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. This card is also treated as a DARK monster while it is face-up on the field. Once per turn, you can discard 1 Spell or Trap Card; Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100). Each time a "Miracle Token" is destroyed by battle, you can banish 1 card your opponent controls OR increase your Life Points by 500.

Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, move it to the Field Spell Card zone and treat it as a field Spell with this effect: Once per turn, you can tribute any number of Level 2 or lower monsters you control, that have the same Attribute; add 1 Monster Card of that Attribute in your Graveyard to your hand, whose Level is equal to or lower than the combined Levels of the Tributed Monster(s).

This card cannot be Summoned while there is another Monster with "M. Spirit" in its card name face-up on the field. If this card is Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a LIGHT Monster, you can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field to Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF100). As long as the "Miracle Token" Summoned by this card's effect is on the field, the Tribute Summoned Monster can attack your opponent's Life Points directly.
Dat full-art. So pretty. If only you didn't force them to stretch.
Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster face-up on the field. Once per turn: You can discard 1 Trap Card; Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100). While you control this face-up card and at least 1 "Miracle Token", all face-up non-LIGHT monsters on the field are changed to Defense Position and their battle positions cannot be changed, except by card effect. If this card is destroyed by a card effect: You can select target 1 Trap Card in your Graveyard; and add that target it to your hand.
Now, if only there was a piercing effect...
Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. When this card is destroyed by battle: You can discard up to 3 Spell Cards; Special Summon a number of "Miracle Tokens" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100) equal to the number of Spell cards discarded this way. When all the last "Miracle Tokens" Summoned by this effect leaves the field: You can banish this card in from your Graveyard; draw 2 cards.
Rather unwieldy, especially since under a lot of circumstances you want to keep the Spells you'd be discarding otherwise. Many players would only be discarding 1 Spell to generate a single Token that will still trigger the draw 2 effect for maximum advantage.
Cannot be Summoned if there is another face-up "M. Spirit" monster on the field. Once per turn: You can send 1 Set Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "Miracle Token" (Spellcaster-Type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF100). While you control this face-up card and at least 1 face-up "Miracle Token," ignore any Summoning conditions when you can Normal Summoning Level 4 or lower "M. Spirit" monsters, ignoring the Summoning conditions.
FYI, Tokens are always face-up and cannot be flipped face-down.

Best card of the archetype since it lifts their otherwise cumbersome restrictions, and generates Tokens at a relatively lower cost. However, I'm not certain how its effect would work out if I changed the condition to be "There can be only 1 "M. Spirit" monster on the field", so I'll leave it at that.
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Monsters

Cannot be Summoned while if there is another face-up “M. Spirit” monster face-up on the field or This card cannot be Summoned if there are any DARK monsters in your Graveyard. During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a Spell/Trap card: You can Special Summon 1 “Miracle Token” (Spellcaster-type/LIGHT/Level 2/ATK 300/DEF 100). If you control more than 1 “Miracle Token”, your opponent cannot activate any Trap Cards during your turn. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 “Miracle Token” you control; you gain 300 to increase your Life Points by 300.
The Token Tribute effect is very weak. Nobody would Tribute a Token to gain a paltry amount of Life Points.

re:ambience

As for piercing...you'll likely see that in the coming days

re: aurora

Not sure how, but i want to make discarding spells/traps less of a burden w/ support. Maybe spells that have different effects in the grave if they were never on the field....inspiration!

re: beacon

Some of these cards are really old and Im trying to get all the OCG errors out, but as you can see, i have been known to miss a couple...thanks for pointing that out. Like I said, CnC is helping me improve my babies...one card at a time

re: dawn

Ive always been a fain of life gain for some reason... I know its not great in todays meta/format...but Im hoping that this archetype can make it at least a bit more appealing. If you have any pointers on making this card more appealing w/o losing the life gain, Im definitely willing to consider the input

In Yugioh nowadays, card advantage is more important than Life Point advantage unless you're running burn which plays almost contrary to the thought. You can afford to dramatically increase the amount of Life you gain from the Token Tribute, perhaps up to 2000, even. Or maybe have the Token Tribute effect do something else in addition to the Life gain, like drawing a card.

Now, for the support:

Tribute 1 "M. Spirit" Monster you control and target 1 "M. Spirit" monster in Special Summon, from your Graveyard, 1 "M. Spirit" Monster with 2000 or less ATK; Special Summon that target. It That monster cannot declare an attack this turn.

Potentially good switch-out card. Right now we only have 2 legal targets, but that might change as more M. Spirit monsters are written.
