So I created a new Game Mechanic. What? I was bored.

I've been toying around with this idea for a while, but there's still some kinks to work out.  I definitely wanna expand upon it, but let me try in a "Konami" style explanation:

 

It's time to take your game to the next level, and now you can!  With the power of Purification! This brand new term is exclusive to but a few cards, but you'll be seeing it a lot more in upcoming sets!  Cards with the ability to Purify can rescue any of your monsters, or even your Spells and Traps from terrible conditions!  The way it works is easy!  Sometimes monsters have their ATK or DEF changed, or effects negated, or maybe even worse! But when a monster is purified, it's cleared of any and all status conditions, and reverts back to normal!   Purifying does not count as an effect, although it does target, so cards that cannot be targeted at all are immune to it!

 

For example, using the first new monster, Ranger of Mythos, let's create a scenario!

 

Ranger of Mythos

LV4 / LIGHT

Fairy / Effect

When this card is Summoned: Target 1 card on the field; purify that target, and if you do, you can draw 1 card.

If Player A has a Thunder King Rai-Oh on their side of the field and attacks into the opponent's Giant Soldier of Stone, the opponent then activates the Shrink Spell Card, halving Thunder King's attack and defense points!  Then, just because, the opponent decides to activate Breakthrough Skill as well, targeting Thunder King and negating its effect(s).  

 

During Player A's Main Phase 2, that player decides to Normal Summon Ranger of Mythos from their hand! When they do, Thunder King's attack points return to 1900, and the status conditions that were affecting it thanks to Breakthrough Skill are completely null and void!  In addition, purifying a monster also removes any conditions placed upon that monster.  So if a Player were to summon Genex Ally Birdman with its own effect, normally Birdman would be banished when it leaves the field!

 

However, if targeted by Ranger of Mythos, that condition no longer exists and Birdman goes back to normal!  Beware though, any ATK points Birdman gained by its own effect are also null and void.

At the same time, because this isn't an effect but rather a game mechanic, you can purify a Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand that targets itself for protection from other card effects!  That doesn't mean you'll be able to stop Felgrand's mighty 2800 attack points, but if you purify it, perhaps one of your Spell or Traps can take it down!

 

There is one catch though! To keep things fair, if a monster is not affected by any status conditions and/or if its ATK and DEF remain unchanged, that target cannot be purified, as there's nothing different about it!  Some monsters have effects that allow you to benefit from a purification, but those effects can only resolve if a monster was actually a valid purification target!

 

Monsters on the opponent's field can be purified as well, but remember that your opponent can do the same!  With this new ability, monsters can battle it out mano y mano to see who the strongest monster is without all the smoke and mirrors!  So try it out for yourself today!

So these are totally generic, but I just wanted to establish it.  I have some cool ideas in mind, just have to find the time.

All "Pyrotile" monsters you control gain 300 ATK and DEF.  When a "Pyrotile" monster inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: You can target 1 card on the field; banish that "Pyrotile" monster and if you do, banish the targeted card and place 1 Spellstone Counter on this card.  Destroy this card if there are 3 or more Spellstone Counters on it.

Can I purify a monster that's under Spellstone Enhancement and basically get a free draw since it would go back up 300? Nvm it looks like an ignition and not continuous.

 

If Purifying doesn't count as an effect that means you can (for whatever reason) Purify a monster who is unaffected by card effects right?

Yessir. Meaning you can Purify a Felgrand that has targeted itself with it's own effect(s).
