It seems like everyone and their mother is running Artifacts on DevPro which is absolutely frustrating. Not only is the deck pretty strong by itself but it also has the ability to be so techable due to cards like Sanctum. Even if you try to force your plays so that their cards are destroyed during their own turn, your opponent is like "nope" and spams out some Ignitions in your face. Especially with cards such as Moralltach and Scythe, your opponent has the ability to control your moves, essentially locking out Game 1.

Yes, you can side against Artifacts. Thats not an issue. But the issue is more the fact that game 1 can be lost since Artifacts are very niche, and therefore with cards like Sanctum, the deck becomes unstoppable. How can we stop cards like Sanctum from activating on first turn? We cannot negate it for one, if its destroyed, you still lose out of it. I know you're all going to spam hate against me saying that "Artifacts are easy to defeat lololololol" but whatever

I do admit though, playing against Artifacts really makes you think and plan moves, in which I like. Not like Bujins, in which if you try to get rid of Yamato, theres always some sort of Trap. Personally, I have no interest in playing Artifacts because their concept does not grasp me (I hope I'm not the only one thinking of this)

Anyway, discuss

They certainly have a fair bit of advantages. You can nuke your own backrow with little to no downside allowing you to get rid of dead calls, not worry to much about losing stuff like breakthrough cause of their flexibility. Tech in stuff like Aegis to protect your monster zone artifacts from targeting & destruction. They don't lose to fissure which is fun.

I knew Sanctum would be a huge money card. Its price was already formidable, but each copy is going for like...$50 apiece right now. Really, most of the Artifacts are cheap except the Xyz and Moralltach, but Ignition and Sanctum are very expensive.

As far as the Deck goes...I really never played with or against them. They seem like an interesting, but frustrating archetype, and they seem very easy to misplay with or against. I've seen Moralltach and Sanctum teched in Galaxy Decks with access to Soldier (I'm so sad about the lack of TCG Galaxy Soldier), to give them a Rank 5 engine, so I definitely can imagine them being teched alarmingly easily.

Main Trap Stun or Wiretap if you're running into them a lot. Obviously, 2-3 BTS. Useful cards not only for that matchup.

I..., I don't actually find them that unfair for some reason. Maybe my perception is warped because of playing them so much. Mainly in hybrids, the pure build is pretty boring, and not that good imo.

Annoying and all, but I can think of a lot worse. The high prices are probably more to do with the fact they can be teched into lots of other things.

Since the 3 key cards are all super rare or higher the price you'd pay to get what you need doesn't seem worth it to me.

Budget artifacts could be ran with double cyclone and malevolent I suppose, albeit very badly.

Artifacts just on their own aren't a good deck competitively. They are faaar to easy to counter and side against and most players will be well prepared for them and will be able to alter their play style for them. They lose outright to things like Ophion and Fossil Dyna. They also don't take advantage of your own turn at all; Just summon a Rank 5 and sit on it or bash with it? Yeah, if you're going to play Artifacts, play a hybrid with something. This is evidenced with YCS Philly results. No Pure Artifacts topped, something like 4-5 hybrid versions did.
