Can Someone Say "Beatstick"? Enchantress of Fools

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. You can target and destroy 1 face-up Spellcaster-type monster you control, except "Enchantress of Fools"; Special Summon this card (from your hand or Graveyard). This card gains ATK equal to 200x the Level of the monster tributed for this card's Summon. This ATK gain remains even if this card is removed from the field. Once per turn: You can target this card and another face-up monster on the field; return those targets to the hand.

Well, the general idea here is that you can destroy a Spellcaster to Summon a (negligibly) stronger one. Use it as a perpetual Compulsory Evacuation Device, the cost of course being your own monster. Plus, the ATK gain is permanent - so yeah, 5000 wouldn't be hard to reach at all. I don't think there are many loops that'll make this card ridiculous, but it is pretty powerful, I will say.

infinite attack gain isnt OP at all >_>

Oh no, Legendary Fiend is OP! It must be banned!

OT: It's impossible for this card to keep the ATK gain since it loses its identity as "the Enchantress with 900 ATK" when it leaves the field, but I'll just pretend things don't work that way since that's what you intended. You will need to lose many monsters for this to become a respectable beater. At least two for it to reach the common 2000-2500 ATK range, and then this finally becomes something you lose two cards (albeit you bounce two of your opponent's monsters) somewhat respectable. The best feature of this card is that it serves as a weird Back to Square One (but to the hand instead of the Deck), since you will need to minus yourself of monsters so much before this can reach a good ATK for mere beatsticking. Then, you can't even bounce it for more ATK more than probably twice in a turn since it's completely reliant on what your opponent has. It just accomplishes what you want at the speed of sloooooooooooooow while eating your card advantage (not to mention you need to get your Spellcasters out there first), and I'm sure BTS makes this card (and its user) cry.

It seems, from your comment, that minusing is the major issue with using this card. Also, the ATK gain wound up being a lot smaller than I anticipated.

Based on that, would the following changes make the card better?

  • Increase the ATK gain to 300x the Level (Level 4 adds 1200, Level 7 Dark Magician adds 2100)

If that's still not enough, I could always change the summoning cost to return the target to your hand instead of destroying it. That plus the above change would definitely make the card more powerful - I just hope its not too much. I have to keep in mind Decks like Gagaga, which could really spam this (even though the intention was really Dark Magician decks)

Both can abuse it, it's just not as easy as it would seem.

I can give you an odd (and improbable) example.

Dimensional fissure, Enchantress of Fools (in hand), BLS out.
Primal seed x2 in hand.

Those 4 could create a loop for this card, as I said, it's improbable, but possible.

Another thing would be tokens. This card's "return" is an effect, as such a token could be targeted (but would be removed rather than returning) afaik.

this makes it annoying, as you could throw out a Nightmare archfiend/Ojama Trio and get a tripple summon.

Another issue would be gagaga.

Magician, double summon, Gagaga girl. Special summon Kid.
three monsters of level 8 (max).
Use an ojama trio and ta-da.

That's 4800.

My examples might be off, I'm not sure. but you get my point.

300 per Level is a minor improvement. Turning this into Genex Ally Birdman lets it loop with itself, but otherwise recycles your Normal Summon effects and opens them up to abuse like Birdman does. Instead of relying on it bouncing and re-Summoning itself over and over, give it a large boost over one monster. You would also have to keep in mind that many of the little monsters are better off as Extra Deck Material, so sacrificing them for this instead of one of the many tools the Extra Deck has should be a beneficial move somehow (in some cases).

You would still need Spellcasters on your field to re-Summon this, so Ojama Trio won't work out as well as you're anticipating (and Nightmare Archfiends is pretty suicidal). What you suggested is a 5-card combo, and there are many 5-card combos that can do so much better than a 4900 beater on top of a triple frontrow bounce (6 card combo if you need Trio). Not to mention you could just use Magician + Kid for Felgrand, who's a pretty tough nut for your opponent. First example is just a dumb loop involving 2 Limited cards and 2 cards that are dead in pretty much every case possible.

I guess what I really wanted was for this to be a trump beatstick that Spellcasters could add to their kit.

ATK 1500/DEF 1500

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. You can target and banish 1 face-up Spellcaster-type monster you control, except "Enchantress of Fools"; Special Summon this card (from your hand or Graveyard). This card gains ATK and DEF equal to those of the monster tributed for this card's Summon. When this card leaves the field: Special Summon 1 of your banished Spellcaster-type monsters (ignoring Summoning conditions). You can target this card and another card on the field; return those targets to the hand. This effect of "Enchantress of Fools" can only be used once per turn.

If I make the above changes, the card would change from an accumulating beatstick to a once-per-turn +1 (you get rid of one of your opponent's cards without losing a monster or anything), and hypothetically even a +2 (you also destroy an opponent's monster b/c of the high ATK of this card).

This also lets you set up some interesting plays with Dragon Rulers and other banish-to-summon cards, like Chaos Sorcerer and Black Luster Soldier.
