Trebuchet MS
We'll burn bri~ghter~ than the suuuuuuu~uuuuunnn~
Cannot be destroyed by card effects. During the Standby Phase: Activate 1 of these effects. If you cannot, send this card to the Graveyard. *Target 1 face-up Effect Monster without a Burn Counter; place 1 Burn Counter on that target. While those monsters have Burn Counters on them, they gain "During your End Phase: You take 100 damage." *Special Summon 1 "Smoldering Token" (Pyro-Type/FIRE/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to either side of the field. It cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon or be used as Material for a Fusion or Synchro Summon. During each End Phase, the turn player takes 100 damage for each "Smoldering Token" they control.
My main gripe about Counters is that they have no purpose without their source card reminding what to do. Thus, A-Counters don't produce a stat drop unless the monster is battling another monster with the appropriate reminder text, and Venom Counters are useless without Venom Swamp. I'm trying to create a card that produces a lingering effect with the Counters and Tokens it produces. That way, it still has after-effects if it leaves the field. This is why monsters that have Burn Counters placed on them gain an additional effect that does damage to their controller, rather than this card checking for Burn Counters itself and doing damage accordingly. Smoldering Tokens are supposed to come with a lingering effect, each one doing 300 damage to their controller during their Standby Phase, regardless of whether this card is on the field. Yes, you MUST activate either of these effects during each Standby Phase, even if it means you clogging your own field or you setting your own monsters on fire. newhat
Probably the strongest alt-win. Being immune to destruction means it will sit on the field until you can open up your opponent's Monster Card Zones and they have 5 Smoldering Tokens. I'm not sure whether a Token you brought out on your opponent's Standby will burn them during that same Standby, and it's important. If they do, the opponent will take 4500 damage automatically and you can win by straight-up stall, without ever playing another monster even if you fill your field with Tokens in the process. Trebuchet MS
Suppose I turn down the incremental burn. Would 200 be too small?
The15thWing
I'd think this would combo in a nasty fashion with Fenix. Burns your foe a lot, while also giving tokens for fusion material, since they're Pyro. Also the tokens count for Fenix's eff. In that sense, I like this card a lot. In another sense, this card becomes a very powerful burn card, even if it only burned for 100. The tokens clog the field REALLY nastily, and with the combo of something like Ojama Trio, can be infuriating. If your gonna keep the tokens and burn, I'd say to remove the anti-destruction bit, and the bit preventing your opponent's fields. Also the tokens may or may not be a bit less potent if they were to die on the destruction of the field.
Trebuchet MS
Changelog: Removed effect that prevents opponent from activating Field Spells. Changed destruction immunity - now it's immune to destruction by your own card effects. Prevents cheesing it with Scrap Dragon or the like. Tokens can no longer be used for Fusion Summons, and are destroyed when this card leaves the field. Burn Counter and Smoldering Tokens do 100 damage each. Smoldering Tokens inflict damage during their controller's End Phase.
newhat
...but now the card defies its intended purpose.
Trebuchet MS
Right. I forgot that I designed this card for the sole purpose of being able to leave repercussions after it has left the field. No longer destroys the Tokens it generates when it leaves the field. Burn Counters now inflict damage during the End Phase.
Excalibur the Divine
Don't know if I'm telling you to use old OCG so tell me if I am. Instead of during the end phase shouldn't it be during each of your end phases? Also, this card is a lot better now with less damage inflicted. Also, dark room of nightmare x3 would really help this card if used. Not saying it's op, just making an observation of fct
newhat
Also, dark room of nightmare x3 would really help this card if used This card has the potential to clog your opponent's field with unremovable Tokens, which is more important than the burn damage. Clearing out their loyal Monsters for the Tokens would probably be the priority over amping up the damage, since they can't Summon anything with a full field. Well, once you gt the tokens, with dark room the opponent will die faster so the opponent will have to kill your tokens fast.

Remember that the Tokens damage their controllers.
