Right now, Lance is better IIRC. Lance and MST are kinda competing for the same "deals with backrow" space.

 

But anyway, neither being a Trap nor the free Set ability give this card anything over MST. Being a Trap prevents you from activating it on the turn you get it, and you can already Set as many backrow as you want.

 

And then, if you want more MST, this has to compete with Night Beam. Night Beam prevents the opponent from chaining the target, but it only works on facedowns and there's the "opponent activates something else, then chains the target to that" play that messes with this card. This can kill face-up or face-down cards, and doing so in the opponent's End Phase can prevent your opponent from chaining that card at all if they Set it since they can't activate it. Buuuuut, you can't activate it on the turn you get it.
