The flavor of this card is a joke. This card pretends that it is part of the Hieratic archetype when it is not. First, the card's name is Heretic Dragon, rather than Hieratic Dragon. Furthermore, the Hieratics are named after the gods and goddesses of Egyptian Mythology, while Dut is named after the Duat. The Duat, in Egyptian mythology, is the realm of the dead. Then we get to the effect, which this card gets wrong too. Hieratics' main gimmick is to gain effects by Tributing monsters, or by being Tribute Summoned. For example, Hieratic Dragon of Su can Special Summon itself by Tributing a Hieratic monster, can pop backrow by Tributing other Hieratics, and Special Summons a vanilla dragon from your Deck (though its ATK/DEF become 0) if it is Tributed. This card has an effect for when it Tributes a monster, and when it is Tributed, but the former is when it is Tribute Summoned and the latter is if this card is used for a Tribute Summon. This makes it were this card doesn't work with the other Hieratics. Oh, and it's a Wyrm.

 

This card's real application lies in Monarchs. The first effect is supposed to work with the new card called Card Advance to become a 5-card Duality, and is a free draw even if you don't have Card Advance. Yeah, there's Flame Ogre, but it's Level 7 for some awful reason. The extra Tribute Summon that Card Advance lets you Xyz with this card and some other Level 6 monster, or you can just Tribute this if you can't get the Xyz Monster out for a free kill.

 

So, YCM, how is this card? Balance-wise? Design-wise? Have I completely lost it yet?

But yeah the name and lore fit as the odd man out of the archetype. The only thing I'd recommend changing is the attribute. Either make it DARK to reflect the fact it's based on the Duat (death) or make it FIRE to further cement how it is not a Hieratic card (and make it comparable with Thestalos for even more punishment).

Hmm, the LIGHT was more of me trying to give Monarchs a good LIGHT monster to work with if they were to go into some sort of Chaos build, but I suppose I shouldn't really try to make every Deck half-capable of having Chaos builds capable of running Chaos Sorc/BLS. I'd like a second opinion first before I decide to change it to DARK (the monster in the picture has some dark spots on it, so to me it feels like it makes more sense than FIRE).
