Trebuchet MS
Monsters can be Normal Summoned in face-up Defense Position. At the start of the Battle Phase: The turn player's opponent can target 1 face-up Defense Position monster the turn player controls; that monster is changed to Attack Position and must attack this turn if able. At the end of the Damage Step where 2 monsters battled, and the the attack target's DEF is higher than the attacking monster's ATK: Destroy the attacking monster.
It all started when I was considering a card that allows monsters to be NS'd in face-up Defense Position, akin to anime rules. It continued to spiral on from there, absorbing Continuous Destruction Punch in the process, ultimately resulting in something that might help a DEF-oriented strategy work. If it weren't for that taunt effect forcing cards into Attack Position, it would turn the game into a turtle-fest as nobody would dare attack until it's perfectly safe. Yes, it can be circumvented by skipping the Battle Phase. Wonder how I can work this such that it doesn't end up creating a turtle-fest game. Radiant F.U.R.Y.™
Just a couple of small changes to the wording Monsters can be Normal Summoned in face-up Defense Position. At the start of the Battle Phase: The turn player's opponent can target 1 face-up Defense Position monster the turn player controls; That monster is changed to Attack Position and must attack this turn, if able. At the end of the Damage Step, when 2 monsters battled, and the the attack target's DEF is higher than the attacking monster's ATK: Destroy the attacking monster. This definitely changes how most people would play; until MST or some similar card comes out, anyway. It definitely helps decks that rely on low-stat monsters getting effects off before they are destroyed. I'm curious to see how this would play out. Im a bit concerned at how overpowering this can be for decks that like to send monsters to the grave or for swarmers. But overall, it seems alright
