Alice Moonflowyr
The only viable strategy in magic. Creatures 'n Stuff 4 Sylvan Caryatid 4 Courser of Kruphix 3 Boon Satyr 3 Hornet Nest 2 Genesis Hydra 2 Hydra Broodmaster Instants 'n Sorceries 4 Hero's Downfall 3 Thoughtseize 2 Despise 2 Crater's Claws Arty Facts 2 Whip of Erebos Planeswalkers 2 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker 2 Xenagos, the Reveler 1 Garruk, Apex Predator Lands 4 Temple of Abandon 4 Temple of Malice 2 Temple of Malady 2 Llanowar Wastes 2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx 1 Mana Confluence 5 Forest 1 Swamp 1 Mountain Sideboard 4 Mistcutter Hydra 3 Anger of the Gods 2 Dark Betrayal 2 Brain Maggot 2 Stain the Mind 1 Cranial Archive 1 Bow of Nylea Things I Didn't Include on Purpose And Why Stormbreath Dragon - This deck plays a LOT more like Mono Green Devotion except with some Black and Red spells. You'll notice almost all my permanents, and ALL my creatures are green. This gives a LOT of power to Nykthos when powering things like Genesis Hydra, Hydra Broodmaster, Crater's Claws, and sometimes Mistcutter Hydra. I've been testing this deck both with and without Stormbreath, and while it's good both ways, I prefer without. Adding in Stormbreath means cutting either the Boon Satyrs, the Nests, or the Genesis Hydras, none of which I want to cut as they all serve a purpose. Elvish Mystic - Acceleration I don't need. I don't need early game accel, and lategame I rely more on Nykthos. Adding in Mystic takes up slots that I would rather fill with other things. Weird Things That I Put In Here And Why Hornet Nest - This little bugger is severely underrated. It single-handedly has won me multiple games against the like of RabbleRed Aggro, Orzhov Aggro, and Mono Green devotion. Against any Aggro styled deck, Nest gives me an almost guaranteed 3 chump blocks, possibly even more if they swing in with 1/1s like the Goblin Tokens or anything on the ground with more than 2 power. And the really annoying Aggro deck, Rabble-Red, doesn't have a clean way around it. They have Lightning Strike. And Nest is just begging to get smacked with a Strike. Boon Satyr - Another severely underrated card that has single-handedly won me games. Against a lot of midrange or Aggro decks, it functions as a green Hero's Downfall, and it also turns Courser into a 6/6 at instant speed. It also deals handily with threats like Brimaz, Rabblemaster, Courser, and other things. The bestow is also great too, especially at instant speed. It lets me win or survive trades that I would otherwise lose, and its instant speed gives control players a headache. Genesis Hydra - Here's the deal with Genesis. Yes, it doesn't have Trample. Yes, it's literally just 1 Downfall/Utter End/Banishing Light away from dying. BUT. I'm usually casting it for 5+ on X, and I've gotten up to 15 with Nykthos. It essentially allows me free, uncounterable threats like Broodmaster, Sarkhan, Garruk, Xenagos, and so on. The fact that whatever I snag with it is uncounterable makes Genesis an all-star against counterspell-heavy control decks. They can counter the Hydra, but I just got another free thing off of it. The synergy it has with Courser is also fantastic.
Poc
I don't really agree with despise and thoughseize in the mainboard, especially when Abzan reanimator is the best and most played deck in standard right now but I don't know your local meta. You really only need thoughseize against ascendancy. As for suggestion to replace them, murderous cut is good removal and Edolion of Blossoms as a one of is nice card advantage as well as a another body. Polukranos and Heir of the wilds are good beaters too. I agree with the Stormbreath dragon. Its more of a meta call. If your going against a lot of white decks I'd say throw him in, otherwise you can leave him in the sideboard.
Alice Moonflowyr
I face a lot of RG, Temur, and Jeskai decks where Thoughtseize and Despise are needed. If I was in a more Abzan-dominant meta right now, not only would those not be present in the mainboard, a playset of Magma Spray would be in the SB right now. But my current problems are Prognostic Sphinx, End Hostilities, and burn decks. All of which I can deal with using the hand shred. I've tested with Polukranos and found that I don't particularly use him for much.
.Rai
Polukranos is one of the few very good cards in this sort of deck. I can't think of many scenarios at all where Hydra Brooadmaster is ever better than Polukranos. Apex Predator should easily be a Murderous Cut as well. Alice Moonflowyr
Because Broodmaster has 1 viable answer when I pop his monstrous for 7-8 at the end of your turn, and that's Aetherspouts. Broodmaster is devastating, and highly underrated. Why should I cut Apex? There hasn't been a game where I've resolved him in a game that was anywhere close to going in my favor where resolving and sticking him hasn't swung the game very much into my favor. He's hilariously strong.
.Rai
Well, both Hornet Nest and Hornet Queen outright blank the card. So does Courser unless you literally pay 9 mana on the Monstrosity. So many ways to go wrong with a fatty with no evasion or removal dodging ability at 6 mana. At 4, it's fine, because you're sacrificing less tempo. Even at 5, it's fine, looking at the play Arbor Colossus saw. Apex Predator seem too slow in all the matchups you mentioned your meta mostly has. It's not a bad card here, but it's clearly not the best out of the 60 cards, and something definitely should be cut for a murderous Cut. If not Garruk, then something else that's worse than Murderous Cut.
Alice Moonflowyr
Hmm...good point. -2 Broodmaster -3 Thoughtseize -2 Despise +2 Polukranos +2 Murderous Cut +1 Xenagos, the Reveler +2 Chord of Calling Decided to cut the Seizes and Despises and maybe put the Seizes in the sideboard. While I have yet to encounter any reanimator, I found out that people DO play them at my LGS. Chord is because I like the idea of having an instant-speed Hornet Nest to block a fatty with when they aren't expecting it.
