Trebuchet MS
You can Normal Summon Spirit Monsters for 1 less Tribute. Level 5 or higher Spirit Monsters that were not Tribute Summoned cannot activate their effects when they are Normal Summoned. Once per turn, during the End Phase, when a Spirit Monster(s) you control is returned to the hand: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; return that target to the hand. You can only control 1 "Spiritual Catalyst".
The intent of this card was to become a slight variant of Spirit's Invitation, but with the added bonus of Summoning bigger Spirits with greater ease. However, voters for the 1v1 have also pointed out that it turns Dark Dust Spirit and Fenghuang into reusable field-nukes, which can become a problem. The other problem is that the number of LV5 or higher Spirits are incredibly small. The only other Spirit that's single-Tribute but doesn't do something cool when it's immediately Summoned is Great Long Nose. Narrowing the "1 less Tribute" to LV7 or higher monsters leaves Great Long Nose as the unfavourite in the family - not to mention having this card's support extending only to 2 monsters (yes, compared to 5, but whatever). What do? Clearly, add in a convoluted restriction that makes Dark Dust Spirit and Fenghuang (along with other Spirits of their ilk if they appear in the future) dead weight when you Normal Summon them without Tribute, but still allow this card to support Great Long Nose unimpeded. CnC would be appreciated.
