Alien Warlord
LIGHT
Reptile/Effect
6/2500/1600
When this card declares an attack, you can target 1 monster on the field: put 1 A-Counter on that monster. This effect cannot be Chained to. When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Add 1 "Alien" or ""A"" card, except "Alien Warlord", from your Deck to your hand. You can only activate this effect of "Alien Warlord" once per turn. (If a monster with an A-Counter battles an "Alien" monster, that attacking monster loses 300 ATK and DEF for each A-Counter it has during damage calculation only.)

Bold will hopefully be able to help differentiate one quote mark from another. Konami doesn't use much actual grammar, so idk if you'd use single quotes for something like fetching "A" cards, or if you actually use double quotes both times.

ANYWAY

I feel like Warlord is a step in the right direction for Aliens. They desperately need a searcher that is easier to make, and Tribute monsters are not nearly as bad as they've been in the past, especially thanks to Stormforth. ATK might be too high and/or I've been considering slapping a "A-Counter'd monster or Alien tribute only" clause on it, but we'll see how it stands up to criticism. Otherwise, it's an Alien Armades that searches, and one thing Aliens need is a reliable way to get counters. Obviously this isn't going to be everything in one card like other long legacy support cards, but to reiterate my opening, it's a step in the right direction.

Just saw 'Stormforth', dang.

I like it.

Scanning the wiki, it doesn't  look like Aliens have had much support recently, and they were never a fantastic Deck iirc, so they could benefit from a good card.

2500 has always been an important attack number, and I assume it still is, meaning it trades for a lot of power cards and destroys many mid-range cards @2400. It's actually more like 2800, when attacking, which might be pushing it, depending on if other Decks would run it. (If it's just going in Alien Decks, it's probably fine to give them a huge 1-tribute beater).

It's very interesting as a searcher, since it can search when discard from hand or Deck. That's a cool way to gain some utility, since Aliens don't traditionally run a ton of Card Destruction/ect. I would make it unable to search itself, though, so you don't see some Exodia/ect Deck using it as part of an advantage engine that replaces itself for free when discarded. Doubt any would, but its a safety measure that can't hurt.

It's hard commenting without knowing the meta, although my recent scans of the TCG forum imply that, because this doesn't create a +4 by being draw, it's probably too weak to make anything viable, and it should destroy your opponent's board when summoned, because 'Regiki isn't even that bad this format'. What the hell happened.

See, that's the thing. I'd like to keep it restricted to Alien decks, but I don't know how to do that without restricting any future utility the card could have. My initial reaction there was to give it a Special Summon restriction and make it only summonable by tributing Aliens and monsters with A-Counters on them.

Can do. That was unintentional, by the way. I'd intended for it to activate when sent from the field, but I can see some applications with it as is, so I'll keep it with a "Can't search itself" clause.

This is why we're making a new format. I might try something with counters a bit further down the line on that format now that I think of it. Like I said with this card though, it's not meant to make Aliens automatically tier 3 like Blaze Accelerator Magazine did for Volcanics. I might make some more support later down the line, I've got a couple of ideas.

Thanks for the feedback!
