jabber2033
When this card is removed from the field, Special Summon 1 "Reborn Tengu" from your Deck. And this engine is back. Discuss.
Expelsword
Terrible card design. It rewards you for existing. I dunno, are they trying to boost Synchros?
-Griffin
I like this card. I like it at 3.
Dementuo
But it only takes 2 to Tengo...
Blake
I like this card. I like it at 3. Why? Like, it's not going to harm the game most likely, but this type of design doesn't belong at 3. Same goes for Malicious. Arguably, Volcanic Shell falls under a weaker form of this design, but it's impact is even less than Mali or Tengu. There is no logical reason for it to go to 3 when you account for design, and I'm ashamed to see the supposed former leader in design advocating a card like this at 3. Well, I like Rekindling at 3, but that doesn't mean I think it should be.

I'm not arguing it from a design standpoint at all. I didn't say it 'should be' at 3, or that it was 'good at' 3. I just like it at 3, because it fits the types of Decks I play and I tend to have fun with it. At this point, I've given up on the TCG being 'well designed', and am fully ready to embrace silliness as long as I have some fun games in it. I'm trying to build a competitive format ( http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/326732-yugioh-designer-format-survey-looking-for-organizers/) - I'd be concerned about 'well designed' thing there. Here, I just want to be able to make Decks that do silly things and give me a giggle when I win with them on a ranked ladder, or make Decks that are seen as weak and try to squeeze some power out of them. newhat
One of the power points of this card is that banishing it or returning it to the hand will trigger its effect, making it very difficult to play around.
Blake
Except the Super Poly move shows that they aren't giving up on design in and of themselves, they just seem to have some sort of deal going on with the OCG with unbanning shit. Which makes me sad, but the TCG has not fully given up. That said, the only deck this card really works for nowadays is Synchrons, and given how Fabled-like they are with the new support, I don't think it's worth it. I didn't even like Tengu in Fableds way back when, for the very same reasons we have here. One on hand, Road Warrior/One for One + Tengu = Stardust Warrior One for One into Jet Synchron (-1) NS Tengu, Tune for Books (-2 total) Tengu floats (-1 total) Discard 1, revive Jet (still -1) Jet + Tengu = Accel (-2) Books and Tengu (+0 total) Stardust Warrior (-1) Road Warrior works in place of One for One, and Glow-up can work in place of Jet Synchron, but i doubt you wanna use up its once per duel so soon, even for this. You also end on a +0 if you use Road or Glow-Up, as opposed to the -1 of One For One + Jet. Accel Synchron is also versatile, giving you access to many things, especially with that third Tengu out. On the other hand, it takes a Normal Summon. Mathematician + Quickdraw is Road Warrior + Formula easily, but that takes an NS. Tengu isn't going to hit the board outside of NSing/reviving it, the latter potentially defeating the point. One for One makes it not take a Normal Summon, but it's limited. Then there's the potential for bricking thanks to it. Synchrons are already fairly brick prone, and opening more than 1 Tengu would just be the worst. Provided Tengu stays at 3 when the SD hits the TCG.
