Toffee.
Select and activate 1 of the following:@Activate if the Opponent Summons a monster: Special Summon 1 "Swarm of Scarabs" from your Deck in Face-down Defense Position.@Activate if the Opponent Sets a Spell/Trap card: Special Summon 1 "Swarm of Locusts" from your Deck in Face-down Defense Position.During the turn you activated this card, Face-down Defense Position monsters you control cannot be targeted by your Opponent's card effects, and cannot be selected as an attack target. You can only activate 1 "Plague of Insects" per turn.To put it simply... It's a weird Trap Hole/MST that has the benefit of giving you a monster, despite the fact the implied payoff(IE, Scarab/Locusts destroying a monster/Spell or Trap) is rather slow. Add to it, acts as a shield of sorts because you get a monster that cant be attacked, that can further act as bait during your following turn.Or something like that... Forest Fire
weird is definitely the word for this. i'm not really sure why you would use this over trap hole or mst so that people don't think i'm crazy: (green's you, red's them) opponent summons/sets a spell/trap (-y/+x) -you might lose something from that, they're probably gain something out of it you activate this (+2/-0) -they lose nothing from you using this, you gain a monster and that monster has a 1 turn protection next turn you lose your monster's protection (-1/-0) you flip whatever it is you summoned through this and hope your opponent doesn't have breakthrough or chain, if they don't (+1/-1) if they do (-1/+1) so you might get a +2/-1 out of this. maybe. or a +0/+1. while mst/trap hole are a guaranteed +1. unless your opponent happens to blind mst. I'm not sure what you're counting but it's not card advantage. It gives you a monster in exchange for itself (+0), that monster is likely but not assured to +1 based on the protection. So it's just a +0 that gives nice setup. I like it: requires you run some pretty outdated cards but thematic and feels in a fine spot balance-wise, nowhere near the meta but playable in its own casual Deck. Oriannis
In some interesting support for swarms. However I am not convinced that this will give people a reason to play them unless its a part of some other tribute basted deck... Wait... Maybe if this was run with monarchs then it might be a viable option since it spits out tribute fodder that happens to be useful and if said fodder was attacked then it would fire off another bonus. This scenario is situational but it would be quite fun to see. Overall I think its a fun little card but I just cant see it being used majorly.
