Color Cards

    For more customization and a new element to the game, I thought of this Idea. What if we printed cards in specific colors and they gain certain effects for those colors via game mechanics. For example, Imagine that is A Green Dark Magician Card down their instead of a Ritual card. He gains 500 Defense while on the field. I think this would make more individualized decks and a more interesting deck building experience. Remember also, these Color Effects are game mechanics, not card effects. Of course there would be restrictions, for example I was thinking you could only have 1 colored version of a card in your deck.

[spoiler=List Of Color Effects]

Monsters

  Red     = This card gains 500 Atk While on the field

So, what separates these from an extra, un-negatable effect on each card? Seems like adding an extra rainbow of confusion to the game without gaining much. Most of these effects don't make much sense either, since you could just add 500 ATK to the  monster and get largely the same result in many cases.

To even consider this it would have to have some kind of physical marker. MTG does this very well. Take a look at the land base:

mtgcom_arcana_289_pic2_en.jpg

Technically each land says "T: Add 1 color to your mana pool". The color is denoted by the symbol. Red, White, Green, Black, Blue and Colorless. By removing the text and just inserting the symbol, it says what type of mana it adds and what color it is.

So in your case, you might want a low opacity symbol in the rear of the card text for the purpose of this. The color of a card in YGO on the other hand is purely aesthetic and is at no point referenced or considered in any aspect of the card game.

Bad idea or good idea, it helps to know what you're getting yourself into.
