Equip Spell Card

Can only be equipped to a LIGHT monster. While this card is in your deck, graveyard or is banished it is treated as a LIGHT monster. If this card is in your deck, graveyard or is banished and is Special Summoned, activate this card on your side of the field as an Equip Spell Card instead. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK and inflicts piercing battle damage.

Oooooook, so, it's kind-of a Union monster, but has Hidden Armory going for it instead of a Level and Union support. Lacking a Level severely limits the cards that would normally interact with it for being a monster, like Resonator Engine, Chaos Zone or Photon Veil. It also lacks any archetype support (no card directly supports Lightrays for name reasons, or so it seems). Because of these things, there are not very many cards that can Special Summon it, the most notable one being Call of the Haunted, which is most likely run to Special Summon things instead of being a MST-able Reinforcements in a pinch (though, the extra function is nice). As for retrieving it, being a monster helps immensely. There's Beckoning Light, Light of Redemption, Monster Reincarnation, and some other things. Adding this to your hand is virtually the same as Special Summoning it in this case because you can just activate it afterwards. Anyways, it's a more-easily-retrievable-than-normal Equip Spell, and 500 isn't so much that it'd become crazy.

 

The biggest competition it has is Honest itself; anything that can give you this card back can also fetch you Honest, and Honest has a Level, ATK/DEF scores, and the Fairy-Type going for it. Honest only lasts one turn, doesn't give you piercing, can't boost right away when it would be SSed (which would be useful in a pinch) and is semi-Limited, but it's still much more preferable than this card is right now. Making this actually compete with Honest is likely going to not end well, so I'm guessing you can boost its boost to 800 or maybe 1k (I'm a bit iffy on how much it should boost since recurring equips doesn't come with many precedents in Yugioh. There's... like... UA's Jersey Equip). Right now, being a monster isn't offering it very much in terms of getting it back.
