Reira Akaba's Cards

Recommended Posts

I was thinking lately, about Reira's cards, the CC and Persona Shutter cards. Do you guys thinks those cards' power matches that of his brother Declan's DD and Covenant cards? I mean, a camera based strategy that can copy your opponent's cards and using said cards against them. Do you think they'll expand the CC and Persona Shutter archetypes?

I was expecting to see info about his cards being printed; I was, needless to say, disappointed.

To answer your question: I don't know how strong his theme will get.  We'll have to see what they do with his theme, and what kind of development he gets.  Right now, he's pretty ineffective as a duelist due to his fear.

Since Reira is a Lancer, his cards are certain to be expanded eventually. Just not now.

As for whether they can really rival D/Ds...unlikely. They seem far too passive and reliant on the opponent to truly function at their best, and while I've gathered from hints that C/C Past Eye is the key card that enables his Extra Deck Summons, and his support cards probably duplicate the opponent's monster for said Summons, it seems like a really, really uncomfortable theme to work with, or hell, even to design for.

He used a WATER C/C/C Fusion by fusing a copy of his opponent's WATER monster. He used a Rank 6 EARTH Xyz presumably with a card that copied his opponent's Level 6 EARTH monster but probably only using C/C Past Eye as the Material (since the C/C/C Xyz had only 1 Overlay when it was Summoned). Even if there's no Extra Deck limit, there would need to be a C/C/C Fusion of every Attribute, a range of C/C/C Xyz of different Ranks and Attributes, and a range of C/C/C Synchros with different Levels. And the two C/C/C we've seen have effects specifically to take out the Attribute that matches it, with the Fusion gaining ATK for opposing WATER monsters, and the EARTH Xyz gaining ATK based on the DEF of all EARTH monsters, plus negating other EARTH effects.

I just don't know how the C/C/C are intended to function if their shtick is based around manipulating and copying the opponent's resources to make your own. Granted, the Persona Shutters seem decently potent, but it's not enough to hold up on their own.

Just gona float a personal theory here for the sake of it:

-C/C is short for "Carbon Copy", since Reira's theme is to duplicate the opponent's cards but can do little on its own.

-C/C/C is short for "Carbon Copy Composite", since his Extra Deck monsters are made using a Carbon Copy and at least 1 more entity.

-Persona Shutters reflect Reira himself, being ineffective on their own and seeing the world as washed-out stills with no life.

He really is Reiji's mini-me.

C/C being Carbon Copy is easy to guess. Not only with the copying theme, but also the fact Reira's being pushed into being a prodigy like his D/D using bro. Even if he succeeds, he's just a copy.

I like the idea of the third C standing for Composite. Never would have thought of that.

I guess your right, but this is just Reira's strategy so far, he could have cards to help his manipulation strategy. Like DNA transeplant for example, and who knows, the one eyed past eye may not be the only key card in his deck. Plus, Reira cares for his big brother (sort of like Mokuba Kaiba, and Hart Tenjo care for their brothers), and since Declan went missing, Reira is most likely to duel his way through any challnge to find him. Oh, and to the rest of the other coments, I really like that theory that CC stands for Carbon Copy and CCC stands for Carbon Copy Composite, I never would have guessed that. Also I have a theory that Reira's extra cards have opposites. He has a WATER fusion, an EARTH XYZ, and I bet that unknown scynchro is LIGHT, what if he has an opposite attribute for each one?
