Deck Devastation Virus

Recommended Posts

I mean, granted your deck can succesfully manage the condition for this often enough, then yeah it's a strong thing against Majespecters since they're all so tiny. Though from my limited experience with them, I don't know if such things are needed. They're annoying as sheet but they're all so small anything can run over them.

You can activate it with cairnegorgon in any rank 4 deck.

Why Cairngorgon when you can just DRXD

Then it's just a waste of DRXD if you summon it on a blank board as a target for this which is even worse.

I mean I get the idea and I know it's good, but the problem is getting targets for this consistently. CCV is not an issue since decks that run it are usually swarmed with small monsters which you can NS just in case. 2000+ ATK is harder to achieve.

Thing is DRXD is not really that useful against Majespecters anyway. By using it as a DDV fodder you actually get more mileage from it in the matchup. It's the same principle why people are willing enough to run Crazy Box as a EEV fodder back then, only difference here is DRXD is already a R4 staple and is actually good outside of being virus fodder.

If you resolve this on their first turn, you'd get so much free turns unless they're using magician engine, and if you resolve this on their second turn (so, if you go second), more often than not you'll still cripple them a lot since even if the majespecters on the field can't be killed by DDV, the ones in hand still can (and really, I doubt they'll set their scales in their turn 1) and you should be able to get a similar enough mileage from it. Granted, going second means that you and your DDV fodder is prone to their bajilion backrow so yeah.

It's dead post early game, but it does a lot of damage to majespecter (and majespecter alone). Whether this would be worth siding or not will depend on how relevant majespecters ended up being.

  • Majespecters cannot be destroyed by card effects while counting as monsters.
  • Pendulums count as monsters in hand.
  • DDV destroys the cards.

Ergo, DDV is useless on them.

Monster effects don't apply in hand. Otherwise having a Rai-Oh in hand would mean you or your opponent cannot search.

Wait this is actually...destroying in hand isn't a common thing. Does this apply?

Nope, the effects of all the majespecters are continuous, if they arent on the field then they dont work.

IMO it only works because DDV reveals them. Insight Magician sets precedent with its discard effect for Pendulums' Monster effects applying in hand, since the Monster textbox houses the effect there.

It's no different from any other Hand Trap - assume the effect applies while on the field unless otherwise stated.
