This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Scrap" monster and all the other Synchro Material Monsters must also be "Scrap" monsters. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can select 1 "Scrap" Tuner monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it.

I, honestly, love This card. It's from a simpler time of when cards would just revive [x] to then proceed to Synchro for [y]. It's also dependant on being Normal Summoned, seeing as how you can't trigger it otherwise. So obveiously speed/effeciency are the issue here, when you compare it to a more modern scene, but you should always expect that when you look at older cards.
Now if we compare This to the rest of it's matching Archetype, however, it's honestly the best card in the set, with the exception being the Extra Deck monsters. This card is honestly superior to Scrap Golem because the later requires you to use a dead Shark and Factory(which honestly only exists to make Golem playable), so as such you don't have to jump through as many hoops, and can always make a consistent play. Not to mention, This card doesn't plague the Summoned monster with any conditions, for the conditions are only stuck to Chimera itself. But this works to an advantage because ever since Xyzs came into existence it let you bypass all of the restrictions and move right onto making any 2-Material Rank 4 you wanted, which opened up a lot more plays with this card.
Add to it, This card's simple methods of play also works exceedingly well with the rest of it's Archetype because it provides more fodder for the Synchros, to which, you can then recycle additional copies of This card(assumignt they were in theGraveyard).
As far as external cards go, though, This and Beast and both, obveiously, Beast-Type; This lets you do obscure things like make plays with Chain Dog, Green Baboon, etc, because it's an Archetype that has Level 4 Beast-Types that apear on and off the field. And Chimera can always provide fodder for a lot of silly cards like Super Rush Recklessly/etc, while doubling as fodder the same card itself.
And if you really wanted to go the extra distance, you can use This card to revive the EARTH Tuners that Scraps have, and make Natruai Synchros with them, assuming you have other appropriate monsters out that aren't Chimera.
But that's just the way I see it.
Discuss.

Back in the day Horn of the Phantom Beast plays were more common and it gave Chain Dog more of a purpose as well.

Yea, but Chain Dog was only a 'thing', honestly, because we had Redox/Reactin in 3s and Laval Chain was around. Otherwise it was just painful to make use of it.

Loop was pretty funny, but still.
