Just realized something about the new YGO movie

They are totally setting up for a DM sequel.

So right now, Arc V is airing and you could look at it as an homage to the franchise summing it all up with all of the different summoning methods and the returning characters in Jack and Crow, maybe even more will follow.

And look at all of the old monsters getting new versions and upgrades to stay relevant. Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, Dark Magician, Black Luster Soldier, probably more on the way too.

Why make a DM sequel? Money. Hideaki Anno (Evangelion director) previously stated that the anime industry would end in 5 years or something; this has been rebunked since then and Anno clarified that what he meant was anime can stick around, but it'll be harder since money has been tighter in recent years.

So to guarantee income, they're tapping into the nostalgia market. Look at Digimon Tri and Dragon Ball Super. Look at Death Note getting another adaption. Sailor Moon and Jojo got shiny new reboots with more on the way (or hopefully for the latter, I want Part 4).

It's gonna happen.

Could be a DM reboot. Starting the whole thing again but they actually follow the rules.

Maybe, but with the new movie coming out post-DM, I think it'd make more sense to do a sequel.

So, you are suggesting something that is in-between DM and GX in the timeline, or does GX get ignored in this?

I'm thinking the former. Maybe this'll retcon GX in the process, but who knows.

I personally would not mind this at all.

Same, I'd watch it.

Double post short term memory loss.

Yeah, I was talking about the live-action TV one. Another anime would be nuts.
