Darj
Awakened Gishki LevanceAttribute: WATERType: Spellcaster/Xyz/EffectRank: 4ATK: 2100DEF: 15002 Level 4 monstersYou can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then activate this effect; this card gains 600 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn, also the first time this card declares an attack this turn, draw 1 card and reveal it, then this card is unaffected by your opponent's cards of the same type (Monster, Spell, or Trap) as the revealed card during the Battle Phase only. You can only use this effect of "Awakened Gishki Levance" once per turn. I was looking at old cards of mine and found this one, and now I'm curious on knowing how it would fare on the current metagame, and that's why I'm making this thread. On one hand, it is a generic card-drawing Rank4 that doesn't need specific materials and/or setup for its effect (e.g. Emeral, Cheer Girl, Bujintei Tsukuyomi) aside of attacking, it packs an outstanding punch for a Rank4, plus has a cute situational protection effect as back-up; on the other hand, the card drawing effect is slower than its fellow card-drawing Rank4s, and IMO that's a noticeable difference. So, I would like to know: Is this card on its current state fair or acceptable for the game? Or is it too good when you add up its generic material requirements, 2700 ATK, the card draw and the situational protection? I admit I went a bit overboard with this card to ensure it a position among the best Rank4 staples, but I'm willing to make the necessary changes or nerfs, if needed, to keep it fair while still retaining an staple-quality. Flavor-wise, is it basically Avance who received a gift from the Sacred Serpent after its wake, acquiring the ability of transforming into his Ritual form Levianima at will and having full control of it (hence the condition for the card draw effect, and its 2700 total ATK after the boost, while 2100 is the average value of Avance + Levianima original ATK). This happened around the same time Roach became Exciton and Leoh gained their new powers and armor. Thoughts and feedback, please. dustdevil9
This would be exceptionally good in mermails giving them a large 4 to go into to trigger dragoons off of and gain a draw for a larger resource pool. In terms of other decks this would be a generic beat stick to go into to fill the extra deck with.
Kindrindra
Not going to lie, 2.7k with a +1 on a generic Rk4 is way too good. It's true that it doesn't go as high as Diamond Crab, but Diamond Crab does nothing but provide that power, while this also gets you a draw on top of that. Honestly I'd limit it to WATER materials (which also fits thematically, since you can Overlay Avance and Emilia to make it), and cut the ATK boost. As Dustdevil said, that would still make it very good in Mermails, and many WATER decks would still love it because it's got a relatively high ATK score and it gives that draw. As for the PSCT, you don't need the "Once per turn" at the start of the effect, since you have a Hard OPT at the end and the Cost is a perfectly valid way to start the effect (even if it didn't have a cost, starting it with "You can activate this effect;" a la BLS or Majespecter Cat would be sufficient). On that matter the one thing that needs clarification is if the battle draw is also OPT or if it works like Satellarknight Capella. If I somehow grant him multiple attacks in one battle phase, can I draw multiple times?
Darj
Right, the OPT clause at the beginning is redundant. And in that case, it would net you a card draw for each time it attacks. I'm considering fixing that by adding a "only once, if this card declares an attack this turn..." or something among those lines. Thanks for pointing those things out.
