Despicable Weapons, Vile Warriors - The Repugnant [WRITTEN]

The Warden

Recommended Posts

So, I have often been itrigued by the Guardian archetype's concept, with a monster and an appropriate equip to it. And also the deeper fact that the actual Guardians are the weapons themselves, which take on a life of their own when wielded, as seen by how Warrior Dai Grepher took up Baou's Wicked Breaking Flamberge, and was corrupted into Dark Lucius. So, I decided to take that concept with the Repugnant Weapons: A series of parasitic equip spells that bond to their wielder, and eventually turn them into a monster of sorts. But that would be cloggy if the wielder was also a main deck monster. So, I took a page out of the Masked HERO's book, and wanted to try out another means of Mask Change. The Repugnant Warriors were the result.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Tyran & Repugnant Weapon - Tyran's Axe]

Repugnant Warrior Tyran
DARK
*****
Warrior / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Tyran’s Axe”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. When this card destroys a monster by battle: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to either the ATK or DEF (whichever is higher) of the destroyed monster in the Graveyard. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Tyran’s Axe”, this card gains 100 ATK for each turn all face-up “Repugnant Weapon - Tyran’s Axe” you control have been on the field, and its effects cannot be negated.
ATK: 1400 / DEF: 1300

Repugnant Weapon - Tyran’s Axe
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster you control. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. The equipped monster gains 1000 ATK and its effect(s) is negated. During your second Standby Phase after this card was equipped to a monster: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Tyran” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]
The intended design behind Tyran is a big beefy warrior mindlessly swinging his axe, gaining skill with it every time (turn) he wields it. The axe likewise causes such mindless behaviour, hence why it is in a similar vein to Axe of Fools.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Calcifer & Repugnant Weapon - Calcifer's Gauntlet]

Repugnant Warrior Calcifer
DARK
******
Fiend / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Calcifer’s Gauntlet”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. During your opponent’s Battle Phase: You can reduce this card’s ATK by 1000 until the End Phase, also give control of this card to your opponent until the end of their Battle Phase. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Calcifer’s Gauntlet”, this card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each Battle Phase, also it gains 100 ATK for each Blood Counter on all “Repugnant Weapon - Calcifer’s Gauntlet” you control.
ATK: 1500 / DEF: 1400

Repugnant Weapon - Calcifer’s Gauntlet
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster you control. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK and DEF, and it must attack, if able. At the end of the Damage Step in which the equipped monster destroyed a monster by battle, place 1 Blood Counter on this card. When there are 2 Blood Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Calcifer” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

The idea here was a reckless warrior, one who lusts for battle and will try to get it any way he can, even if it means switching sides.Combo'd with his weapon, you could force him to ram a stronger monster, or the one below for damage.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Bile & Repugnant Weapon - Bile's Shield]

Repugnant Warrior Bile
DARK
******
Fiend / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Bile’s Shield”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. When this card is declared as a attack target: Inflict 1000 damage to your opponent before the Damage Step. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Bile’s Shield”, this card gains 100 DEF for each Bile Counter on all “Repugnant Weapon - Bile’s Shield” you control, also your opponent cannot attack other monsters you control.
ATK: 0 / DEF: 3000

Repugnant Weapon - Bile’s Shield
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster your opponent controls or “Repugnant Warrior Bile”. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. While equipped to a monster you do not originally own, take control of the equipped monster, but it cannot attack and its effect(s) is negated. While you control this card, you cannot Special Summon Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Monsters, except by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. Once per turn, the equipped monster cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effect. Each time a monster card(s) is sent to your opponent’s Graveyard, place 1 Bile Counter on this card. When there are 3 Bile Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Bile” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

Bile was designed to be fairly trolly, in regards to stealing a monster with its shield, and then slowly mutating into the archetype's giant ass. Bile is meant to be purely defensive, and a means of monster removal for the deck via the equip. This monster combos quite well with Calcifer, by wit of giving it to your opponent, and the equipped Gauntlet forcing it to attack Bile.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Falciparum & Repugnant Weapon - Falciparum's Spear]

Repugnant Warrior Falciparum
DARK
*******
Fiend / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Falciparum’s Spear”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. Once per either player’s turn: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; place 1 Schizont Counter on it. During each of your Battle Phases, this card can attack all monsters your opponent controls with a Schizont Counter on it. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Falciparum’s Spear”, when this card battles a monster with a Schizont Counter on it, the opposing monster’s ATK and DEF becomes half its current ATK and DEF during the Damage Step only.
ATK: 2400 / DEF: 2200

Repugnant Weapon - Falciparum’s Spear
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster you control. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. The equipped monster inflicts piercing battle damage. Monsters that battle with the equipped monster are not destroyed by battle, also at the end of the Damage Step, place 1 Schizont Counter on this card. When there are 2 Schizont Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Falciparum” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

The idea here was to have a warrior like a disease, crippling your opponent's monsters but not yet granting it the sweet embrace of death. Falciparum is meant to strike repeatedly, crippling your opponent and striking their monsters when they're down. (Admittedly, the choice of a spear as a weapon was an accident.)

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Ileum & Repugnant Weapon - Ileum's Chain Whip]

Repugnant Warrior Ileum
DARK
*****
Fiend / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Ileum’s Chain Whip”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. Once per turn: You can target any number of Spell and Trap cards your opponent controls; rearrange their position(s) on the field (you do not look at any face-down cards). While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Ileum’s Chain Whip”, when this card destroys a monster by battle: You can move this card to an empty Monster Zone you control, and if there is an opponent’s monster card in the same column as this card, you can remove 1 Squirm Counter from a “Repugnant Weapon - Ileum’s Chain Whip” you control; this card can attack again.
ATK: 2000 / DEF: 1800

Repugnant Weapon - Ileum’s Chain Whip
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster you control. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. The equipped monster can only attack monsters that are in the same column. When the equipped monster destroys a monster by battle, if there is a Spell or Trap card in the same column as that monster: Destroy that card. When you destroy a Spell or Trap card by this effect, place 1 Squirm Counter on this card. When there are 2 Squirm Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Ileum” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

The idea here was a squirmy monster, constantly moving about and striking repeatedly. The Chain Whip's effect is because of the reach, the weapon piercing through a monster to hit the backrow behind it. This card is intended to be the archetype's backrow removal tool, but with a risk involved, of course.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Chaos & Repugnant Weapon - Chaos' Staff]

Repugnant Warrior Chaos
DARK
*******
Spellcaster / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Chaos’ Staff”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. Once per either player’s turn: You can target 1 card on the field; the controller of that card must shuffle their hand into their Deck, then they must draw the same number of cards they added to their Deck. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Chaos’ Staff”, do not apply the effect of the equipped card to your opponent, also the top card of your Deck is not flipped face-up, and during your opponent’s End Phase: You can look at the top card of your Deck (you do not have to show it to your opponent), then return it to its original position.
ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2100

Repugnant Weapon - Chaos’ Staff
Equip Spell
Can only be equipped to a monster you control. Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. While this card is face-up on the field, the top card of both player’s Decks are flipped face-up. During each player’s turn: The turn player can declare a card name, then reveals the top card of their Deck; if it has the declared name, they can add it to their hand, otherwise they must send it to the Graveyard. Each time a card is sent to the Graveyard by this effect, place 1 Wisdom Counter on this card. When there are 2 Wisdom Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Chaos” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

Honestly, this one was quite risqué. In terms of how the Staff works, and also Chaos causing literal chaos by ruining set-up and search power by forcing a mulligan on you or your opponent's hand.

[spoiler=Repugnant Warrior Amon & Repugnant Weapon - Amon's Armour]

Repugnant Warrior Amon
DARK
********
Fiend / Fusion / Effect
Must first be Special Summoned by the effect of “Repugnant Weapon - Amon’s Armour”. This card cannot be Tributed by the effect of a “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card. While this card is equipped with “Repugnant Weapon - Amon’s Armour”, it is unaffected by the effects of your opponent’s cards. Once per turn, during your opponent’s Main Phase: You can banish 1 “Repugnant” card from your hand, field, or Graveyard; proceed to your opponent’s Battle Phase, and all monsters they control must attack, if able.
ATK: 3000 / DEF: 3000

Repugnant Weapon - Amon’s Armour
Equip Spell
Only 1 “Repugnant Weapon” Equip Spell Card can be equipped monster to a monster at any time. Banish 3 “Repugnant” cards with different names from your Graveyard; equip this card to 1 monster you control. Once per turn, this card cannot leave the field because of a card effect. The equipped monster cannot attack or be attacked, and its effect(s) is negated. (Do not apply this effect if equipped to “Repugnant Warrior Amon”.) During each End Phase after this card was activated: Banish 1 “Repugnant” card from your Graveyard; place 1 War Counter on this card. When there are 3 War Counters on this card: Tribute the equipped monster; Special Summon 1 “Repugnant Warrior Amon” from your Extra Deck, then equip this card (from your Graveyard) to the Summoned monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]

And here we have the big boss. Basically, Amon is meant to be a figure of dread and fear, something you'd be terrified to eventually face as a monster festers within the sarcophagus-like armour. This guy is meant to be a game ender, and also a ruiner of combos via his forced battle effect. He is intended to be hard to remove, as it takes 2 of your turns (usually) and 1 of your opponent's before he hits the field.

[spoiler=Obligatory Field Spell]

Repugnant Castle
Field Spell
Once per turn: You can reveal 3 “Repugnant Weapon” cards from your Deck, have your opponent randomly add 1 of them to your hand, and shuffle the other 2 cards back into your Deck. Once per either player’s turn: You can target 1 monster you control that does not have a Equip Spell Card equipped to it; equip 1 “Repugnant Weapon” card from your Graveyard to that monster.

[spoiler=Design Notes]
It exists basically to help with keeping the Weapons in cycle, as well as searching them. So in this card you don't need to run as many copies of the equips for them to be useful.
