Black D'Sceptyr
I'll throw ya a bone here. What usually bugs me about a LV archetype is that one usually has to run some +2 opponent cards to get the ball rolling seriously. It's a burden to have to do this to get to the good parts of an archetype-especially with usually 4 2100+ bounce-happy beaters starting you down on turn 3-4. With this I have to say that the Rock Lobster Rock Turtle is...not too shabby actually. Doesn't even have a Silent in name, and yet it can take an opponent by surprise. First version's a giant hand trap that can block some good initial threats, at 2200 DEF, and allows you a Spell/Trap nuke to further the pain by swapping its ATK and DEF. I can already think of some shenanigans with the Aquaactresses and their Aquarium cards, especially since each can bring up a new Aqua monster on destruction. So this is easily the best part of the Deck. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Battle damage infliction allows this Rock Turtle to hit LV 5, where it works as a half of Lose A Turn, and can attack while in Defense for piercing battle damage! Not too bereft of targets at 2600, but again, more of the Aquarium cards you likely nuked to get him an attack on your turn, can work to protect it now. Seems fine, but with little protection otherwise, it's a bit underwhelming. Considering what it comes out of though, I'm willing to overlook this. BUT WAIT, THERE'S EVEN MORE! Coming into its full maturity as LV, the Stone Turtle (ok, wait, why is this saying Armed Dragon can bring it out? There been some freaky fish frolicking I don't know about?) becomes 3000 ATK, turns into a PIer 6 floodgate by negating every one of your opponents monsters it switches into Defense Position, and can still attack for piercing damage in Defense Position! Now see, this is what I'd consider running one for-that barricade stops a lot of annoying stuff-the Monarchs (until Stormforth comes calling, but that's what you have the rest of your Deck to counter), the Kozmos, IGNISTER. The Aquariums can keep anything from getting over this, make it 3300 DEF to get over those last couple of threats! And with all of these cards not a point over...well 0...Salvage and Surface are great to keep these cards strong. They are a bit soft to the Spell/Traps of our day (the ones without Mirror Force in their name, but I can see at least the first form of Rock Turtle hitting some WATER Decks-if only to hand-trap away the first lines of attack. Black Ray Lancer can also be a pain in your opponent's A if they have copies (or Atlanteans, your pick.) 8.5/10 for Rock Turtle LV 3, 8/10 for its evolutions. Keep it up, mate. And watch the wording in those cards, it can sink you later. (Just my last two cents.)
