Darj
Machina MegaforceAttribute: EARTHType: Machine/Fusion/EffectLevel: 11ATK: 4800DEF: 4300"Machina Soldier" + "Machina Sniper" + "Machina Defender"Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards you control and/or from your Graveyard while you control "Commander Convigton" (You do not use "Polymerization") and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can discard 1 Machine-Type monster; look at your opponent's hand and Set cards, and send 1 card from their hand or field to the Graveyard. During either player's turn: You can send this card to the Graveyard, then target 1 of your "Machina Soldier", "Machina Sniper" and "Machina Defender" that are banished; Special Summon them in Defense Position (this is a Quick Effect). Basically it's Machina Force retrained as a Contact Fusion. I can't say it's a really creative card since I merely implemented ABC-Dragon Buster's traits, including its removal Quick Effect, into Machina Force, who IMO really needs the boost because, well, the original Machina Force is awfully impractical. The removal effect is based on Fortress' discard effect, while the name "Megaforce" is inspired from Machina Megaform, for the hints of flavor. Also, having Soldier, Sniper & Defender listed as material makes them searchable by Fusion Conscription/Reserve, which can assist with getting the pieces sooner. Thoughts? Guest BGMCANN0N
I think this does help the old Machina people have kind of forgotten. I mean you can still pitch the Fusion material to get out Machina Fortress, and they would still be considered resources in the Grave much like that of ABC... The only thing is Covington himself is strange in that he is a part of the archetype, yet he isn't labeled as one of them so he has to be searched via Gear Gigant X or his awkward Flip searcher (Machina Defender) while the rest of the Machina needed for this also can be searched by Machina Gear Frame if needed. With the need of Covington it may be kind of klunky as you may need to additionally rely on other cards like Iron Call to get his presence on the field to make this since you may want to Normal Summon Gearframe first in a lot of cases if you already have it. With Covington in mind, maybe a seperate retrain of Covington (that mentions Machina in its name) or other support to remedy this problem if you are feeling the want to do that. Or even throw in Covington as another Fusion Material that would work too. As for the effects, I'd say they are pretty tame because of its need of 1 extra monster compared to ABC Buster Dragon, yet not underwhelming as you can hit things in your opponents hand which something ABC Buster doesn't do. But, in all at least it stays true to the flavor of the old Machina, and offers us a better version of their disappointing boss monster.
Darj
Thank you for your reply. Yeah,I figured the need of Convigton would work as a balancing factor, but it does feel too much of a hindrance, and even considered leaving it out of the picture and make the Contact Fusion condition not need it at all. This card can be further improved, but my main question is how many boost, or which ones, are enough before it crosses the balance side. It (ideally) is a +1 Contact Fusion 4800-ATK beater with a conditional 1-for-1 removal Quick Effect that can hit the hand, after all.
