[spoiler=Monsters] If a monster is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, change the Battle Position of the monster that was Summoned. Cannot be destroyed by battle. If an effect is activated that targets a face-up monster you control: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, change that target to this card. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. If an attack is declared involving a monster you control: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, negate the attack. While you control a face-up "Afterburn" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. FIRE "Afterburn" monsters you control gain 300 ATK and DEF. If this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Kojin, Afterburn Rookie" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. While you control a face-up "Afterburn" monster: You can reveal this card in your hand and target 1 "Afterburn" monster you control; destroy it, and if you do, Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can target 1 monster you control: Its level becomes 6, and its Attribute becomes DARK. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card: This card gains 1 additional attack against an opponent's monster during each Battle Phase this turn. 2 Level 7 monsters If a face-up "Agni's Corruption" you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: During your next Standby Phase; you can Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck, and if you do, attach 1 "Agni's Corruption" from your Graveyard to this card as Xyz Material. While this card has Xyz Material, it gains 1000 ATK and DEF. While this card has "Agni's Corruption" attached as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect. ● Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the ATK of the monster on the field with the highest ATK until the end of the next turn. 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monster The first time this card would be destroyed each turn, by battle or card effect, it is not destroyed, then place 1 Afterburner Counter on this card. This card gains 500 ATK and DEF for each Afterburner Counter on it. Once per turn: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it and this card. 1 Tuner + 1 non-Tuner Synchro Monster You can also Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck by sending 1 "Kojin's Tenacity" you control with 2 or more Afterburner Counters to the Graveyard. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. If this card battles an opponent's monster, at the start of the damage step: You can banish that monster, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. "Matari, Afterburn Leader" + 1 FIRE monster You can also Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck by sending the above cards you control to the Graveyard. (You do not use "Polymerization".) If this card is Special Summon: You can target 1 "Afterburn" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. You can only use this effect of "Matari's Conviction" once per turn. While you control at least 1 face-up "Afterburn" monster, all monsters you control gain 400 ATK and DEF. "Matari's Conviction" + 2 FIRE monsters Must be Fusion Summoned or Special Summoned by its own effect, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. If a face-up FIRE Warrior-Type monster you control is destroyed by your opponent's attack or card effect: You can banish 1 "Matari's Conviction" and 1 FIRE monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck. If this card is Special Summoned: You can Special Summon up to 3 FIRE "Afterburn" monsters with different names from your Graveyard. For the rest of this turn, unless this effect was negated, you cannot Special Summon, and any battle damage your opponent takes becomes halved. "Afterburn" monsters you control gain 1000 ATK and DEF. [spoiler=Spells] You can take 1 "Agni, Afterburn Traitor" and 1 LIGHT or FIRE "Afterburn" monster from your Deck; add 1 to your hand and send the other to the Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Old Friends and New Enemies" per turn. While you control at least 1 FIRE or LIGHT "Afterburn" monster: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Afterburn" monster from your Deck with a different name than the "Afterburn" monsters you control. You can only activate 1 "Team Dynamics" per turn. You can only equip this card to a FIRE Warrior-Type monster. The equipped monster gains 800 ATK and DEF. If the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can banish that monster, and if you do, draw 1 card. If this card's effect is activated twice, destroy this card. You can only equip this card to a FIRE Warrior-Type monster. When this card is activated, place 2 Rocket Counters on this card. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK and DEF for each Rocket Counter on it. You can remove 1 Rocket Counter from this card: Destroy 1 card your opponent controls. I had a couple goals working with these. I wanted to do something with all 3 summoning types while also keeping the archetype's size down, and I also wanted to do something that took advantage of its simplicity to make it very open in terms of strategy and play. Working with these, my flavor got more and more anime as I went on, and the route I ended up taking ended up being rather... super-hero-y, and I started incorporating the theme and flavor into the mechanics of the cards themselves.
