this is a generic battle trap I thought of, I don't want it to be too strong, but generically alright

( note, the second effect is all OR, same type or attribute or level or rank ) 

( if its not strong enough, making it usable upon the monster's own attack might be an option for future variants ) 

 

Battle Switch 

Trap - Normal 

 

Activate by targeting 1 monster you control. This turn, if that monster is attacked you can activate one of these effects

- Target 1 monster in your graveyard with the same type, attribute, and level / rank, send the monster you control to the graveyard, then summon the targeted monster from your graveyard. You can ( optional ) ignore summoning conditions 

- Banish 1 monster of the same type, attribute, or level / rank; that monster cannot be destroyed by that battle or any card effects that happen during the rest of that battle phase

Hmm, on the first effect, you can simply say:

-Target 1 monster in your graveyard with the same type/attribute/level/rank, send the monster that is being attacked to the graveyard and special summon the target monster in the graveyard ignoring the summoning conditions.

There really is no point in adding optional if you're planning to special summon a monster and want to get around it's summoning condition. And since it protects the monster only during the battle phase and the monster can still be taken out in the other phases, making the card to only work in the Battle Phase seems redundant.
