Darj
Windwitch - Frost BellAttribute: WINDType: Spellcaster/Link/EffectRating: 1Link Markers: bottomATK: 11001 Spellcaster monster with a LevelYou can Tribute this card: Special Summon 1 "Windwitch" monster from your Deck, and if you do, return it to the hand during the End Phase, also inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's Level x 100. You can only use this effect of "Windwitch - Frost Bell" once per turn. If a Level 5 or higher WIND monster you control would be destroyed by battle, you can banish this card from your GY instead. A Windwitch intended to revitalize the Invoked Windwitch variant and provide it an slight layer of defense. The main play is to Summon the Windwitch trio as usual through Ice Bell, then Normal Summon Aleister, who then becomes this, then on the Linked Zone you drop Crystal Dragon, afterwards you trade this card for another Windwitch, and follow up with Invocation to drop Raidjin on the now available EM Zone. Alternatively, you can Normal Summon Aleister, or any Spellcaster for that matter, trade it for this, then search for Ice Bell whose effect should be live the next turn. Summoning Glass Bell and triggering its effect to grab Ice Bell to secure a next turn play, or Snow Bell for swarming, is an option, too. The second effect is mostly to spice up the card a bit, really, since personally I find cards with a single effect too bland. The extra protection on Crystal Wing, Raidjin, etc. should be welcomed, though. I realize that straight searching for Ice Bell can be strong as it translates to a effect destruction-proof Crystal Wing, hence why I'm going for a convoluted search effect reminiscent of Ehther the Heavenly Monarch: by temporarily Summoning the monster, it locks out the immediate use of Ice Bell. ~~~~
Sorry, but there's so much wrong with this card it's insane. Firstly, your intended combo of:The main play is to Summon the Windwitch trio as usual through Ice Bell, then Normal Summon Aleister, who then becomes this, then on the Linked Zone you drop Crystal Dragon, afterwards you trade this card for another Windwitch, and follow up with Invocation to drop Raidjin on the now available EM Zone.doesn't work because Ice Bell has:"You cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck the turn you activate this effect, except Level 5 or higher WIND monsters."on its summon effect. This means that you can't Link Summon during the turn you use Ice Bell. Secondly, your second combo is problematic and not OK.Alternatively, you can Normal Summon Aleister, or any Spellcaster for that matter, trade it for this, then search for Ice Bell whose effect should be live the next turn.Because you search Invocation with Aleister and then grave fuse this and Aleister for Raidjin. That is a very consistent (because Magical Meltdown) 1 card combo off a Normal Summon and there's more you can do with Summoning a Tuner off of this card's effect and Synchro Summoning with that Tuner and the Raidjin. Thirdly, it can use itself as Link Material. This means that you can do all sorts of dumb s*** like arbitrarily load up your GY with WIND monsters, load up your GY for multiple uses of this card's GY effect, Link Summon this in 1 EMZ, use its Linked Zone, then Link Summon another copy into the other EMZ for another free Linked Zone. There's some more stuff that's wrong with this card but I think I've made my point. My point is to be very very careful when designing monsters that need only a single material. Oh right, Ice Bell also locks Link Summon, I will revise that part. But the last 2 things don't sound that bad, IMO. Although I agree it's a power play, the combo with Aleister is what IMO the Invoked Windwitch variant needs to get back up to relevance. And even if you end with Radijin + Snow Bell, going for a Synchro... it doesn't sound that overpowering to me when Raidjin itself is already good. And simply generating WINDs in the GY as fodder or whatever has little abuse potential AFAIK. What exactly can you do with that besides stacking multiple Frost Bell protections? Setup Windrose or fodder for Fairytail Snow? Meanwhile, shifting from 1 EM Zone to the other one is a tactic I see often in gameplays, especially with the latest batch of leaked Link monsters. I mean, I will play safe and change the materials so it cannot use itself or a Link monster as material or whatever, but does it really need it? Would you truly invest 3 ED slots on this for the x3 battle protection on your Level5+ WIND(s)? If you do, then I would say it's a fair price to pay. EDIT:I think I will just scrap the card. My main goal was to enable again the Crystal Wing + Raidjin boards, but with Link Summons locked the only alternative I can think of a Level5+ Windwitch Contact Fusion that moves the monster in your EM Zone to a MM Zone while removing itself from the board to clear the space but then it's way too convoluted and specific at that point.
