[Written] Drive Form Support (For My Oldest of Archetype)

Recommended Posts

Drive Forms are from Kingdom Hearts and I haven't updated the Deck since 2015(?). That was 2 years ago. It is about time I give my oldest of Archetype some needed supports! Also, I'll be sure to Errata the old cards since some are pretty broken, I believe.

Old post so I may not have the best OCG.

[spoiler=Spells]

High Drive

Normal Spell Card

Effect: Send 1 "Drive" card in your hand or you control to the GY; draw 2 cards. If this card is banished: You can Special Summon 1 "Sora - The Keyblade Bearer" from your GY. You can only use this effect of "High Drive" once per turn.

Mark of Mastery

Field Spell Card

Effect: While you control this card, you take no effect damage. Once per turn, if you control a Level 4 LIGHT monster with 1800 ATK or less: You can banish 1 Spell Card from your GY; add 1 Level 4 or lower "Keyblade" monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is sent to the GY: You can banish it and 1 other Spell Card; add 1 "Mark of Mastery" from your Deck to your hand, but you cannot activate it this turn.

[spoiler=Extra Deck]

Drive Form - Sora the Keyblade's Second Form

LIGHT Warrior Level 8 Fusion

2800/2200

Effect: Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by Tributing 1 face-up "Sora - The Keyblade Bearer" and banishing 1 "Drive" Spell Card from your hand, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be destroyed or banished by card effects. When this card battles a monster: You can banish 1 "Drive" card from your hand; Summon 1 "Drive Form" monster from your Extra Deck by sending its materials listed from your Deck to the GY. (This Summon is treated as a Summon using "Drive Form". If it is an Xyz Monster, attach the monsters in the GY to it as Xyz Materials.) You can only control 1 "Drive Form - Sora the Keyblade's Second Form".

Sora - The Keyblade Bearer of the Grid

LIGHT Cyberse Link 3

1800

Link Markers: DL, D, DR

Effect: +2 Effect Monsters

You can only Special Summon "Drive Form" monsters from your Extra Deck to the zones this card points to. Once per turn: You can banish up to 2 Spell Cards from your GY, then target that many monsters on the field; destroy them. If a "Drive Form" monster leaves the field: You can pay 1500 LP; Special Summon that monster. You can only use this effect of "Sora - The Keyblade Bearer of the Grid" once per turn.

Good on ya' for remembering your old archetype cards and giving them some love! Kinda made me realize I need to give my old custom archetypes some attention as well. I haven't played KH since the first one, and that was about 12 years ago, so I hope I'm still qualified to grade these.

High Drive - Nothing wrong here, it's a -2 for a +2. The second effect isn't groundbreaking either since it's target is pretty tame itself, so altogether a decent card. You could probably even get away without the HOPT, since like I said it's an even trade and it's not like you have more chances of abusing this than Trade-In.

Mark of Mastery - I don't know about the "no effect damage" protection, as it seems too powerful to be stacked on top of other effects. "Des Wombat" works similarly, but it's also a 1600atk monster that doesn't have much survivability. I would make it either an OPT, a cost, or available to both players at the least. The rest of the card is fine.

Drive Form - Sora the Keyblade's Second Form - Hm, so you could non-Poly banish Sora and High Drive to SS this card and potentially get another Sora with High Drive's second effect... considering the fact that it has no chance of being revived, I'll look the other way. Self-protection from card effect destruction/banishing, AND it's a gateway to grabbing more Fusion monsters, granted you need Drive cards in your hand... pre-MR4, this would be pretty broken, but seeing as this effect isn't going off without available linked MMZs, it's fine. The only change I would suggest is his ATK, I'd be less on the fence about this card entirely if it was maybe around 2400 or so, considering it's fusion materials and everything it's capable of doing.

Sora - The Keyblade Bearer of the Grid - Nothing really bad to say about this card. I like this card the most out of these four, because it's an interesting mix of effects. It's second effect is similar to Industrial Strength, except you're banishing Spells to destroy only monsters. Honestly, I have a feeling that the third effect's cost is a little steep, since the first effect does nothing but hinder how many Extra Deck monsters, and consequently, how many "Drive Form" monsters you can control. I'm curious to see what others say about this though, so my verdict for this card is it's good, maybe needs a slight buff.
