Echo27 Posted November 19, 2017 Report Share Posted November 19, 2017 So basically, I was sorting through my cards and noticed literally no Trap Cards are beneficial to play anymore (except Dimensional Barrier, Solemn Warning) so I thought I would give a go at making a good Trap Card that maybe would see play as tech against OTK decks. Well here it is:Basically, Overlooking Death can potentially shut down your opponent from doing anything further that turn (as it also stops burn damage).The obvious downside to this card is that it is Continuous Trap, making it weak to things like MST, Cosmic Cyclone, Twin Twister, etc. However, what makes this card better than other damage cancelling effects (such as Waboku or some other unused, forgotten card) is that you can potentially activate it during your turn to crash a 0 ATK monster into something bigger to let you activate cards like Instant Fusion or Solemn Warning for free, when you might have originally been stuck at, say, 800 LP.At the start of your next turn, it destroys itself and you draw a card, letting you potentially make a comeback with a minimum of 2 cards in your hand.I did not see the reason to make a HOPT clause for this, as the activation conditions are quite hard to pull off artificially, and the only benefit of activating 2 or more of these would be to cycle through your deck a little (albeit very slowly) and give some protection against MST and Cosmic Cyclone.In any case, I had some fun coming up with this card, and I hope that it's balanced enough :P Please leave a comment saying what you think about the card, it would be much appreciated :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Eshai Posted November 19, 2017 Report Share Posted November 19, 2017 To fit the theme of the card, I would separate its self-destruction from the "when this card is destroyed: Draw 1 card". Not only does this mean you could potentially draw you a Battle Trap if they MST, it could be exploited earlier in the game in some Decks that would otherwise not utilize the card, which means there's more to the card than just crutching when you're losing. And your opponent will likely destroy it before you're able to activate it.Why not make it a literal hand trap? If it feels to strong that you can activate it from the hand, I think adding a condition like "If you control no monsters, you activate this card from your hand." or something would suffice.
