Perry Ellis.
Cardinal monsters are based on the 4 Chinese Constellations. Each of the Constellations or Symbols, represents a center element and cardinal direction. with that in mind I decided to deign the archetype around Links, with each monster's Link markers pointing in the direction of that the constellation is the watcher of. The play style is suppose to be some what similar to True Kings, with their effects that allow them to special summon themselves and the effects that activate once special summoned. [spoiler= Monsters]Genbu the Black Turtle of Cardinal NorthLink 3 | WATER | Wyrm | EffectUL/U/UR2+ WATER monstersYou can only use each of this card name’s effects once per turn. (1) When this card is Special Summoned: Draw cards equal to the number of cards this card points to. (2) Your Opponent Cannot Special Summon monsters to zones this card points to. (3) During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the GY: You can banish 2 other WATER or “Cardinal” monsters from your Extra Deck or GY, Special Summon this card.2200 Writer’s Note: Genbu, the Northern protector, has the upper pointing arrows. Due to the drawback of giving away your precious link arrows, I decided to give him effects that would, either help extend your plays (the draw effect), or hinder your opponent from making plays (the Special Summon negation). The final effect is the archetypal Special Summon effect. Seiryu The Azure Dragon of Cardinal EastLink 3 | WIND | Wyrm | EffectUR/R/DR2+ WIND monsterYou can only use each of this card name’s effects once per turn. (1) When This card is Special Summoned: Shuffle face up cards on the field into the Deck equal to the number of cards this card points to. (2) Monsters you control that are linked cannot be targeted by an opponent’s effects. (3) During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the GY: You can banish 2 other WIND or “Cardinal” monsters from your Extra Deck or GY, Special Summon this card.2500 Writer’s Note: Seiryu, is one of the more offensive monsters of the archetype. His Special Summon effect can really put a wrench in your opponent’s plans especially when comboing it with archetype’s effect allowing it to special summon itself. Suzaku The Vermilion Phoenix of Cardinal SouthLink 3 | FIRE | Wyrm | EffectDL/D/DR2+ FIRE monstersYou can only use each of this card name’s effects once per turn. (1) When This card is Special Summoned: Change your opponent’s cards to face-down Defense Position/Set equal to the number of cards this card points to. Cards changed to face-down Defense Position/Set by this effect cannot change their battle position/activated. (2) When a monster is Special Summoned to a linked zone, negate its effects until the end of the turn. (3) During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the GY: You can banish 2 other FIRE or “Cardinal” monsters from your Extra Deck or GY, Special Summon this card.2400 Writer’s Note: Suzaku, the second of the defensive monsters, has a quaking mirror force effect that can potentially help you get over any big bodied monsters (non-link). Since its first effect doesn’t do anything to other link monsters, I decided to give it an effect that would allow it to negate monster effects. Byakko The White Tiger of Cardinal WestLink 3 | EARTH | Wyrm | EffectUL/L/DL2+ EARTH monstersYou can only use each of this card name’s effects once per turn. (1) When This card is Special Summoned: Send cards to the GY equal to the number of cards this card points to. (2) If a monster that is linked is destroyed by battle or sent to the GY: Special Summon 1 monster from your hand. (3) During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the GY: You can banish 2 other EARTH or “Cardinal” monsters from your Extra Deck or GY, Special Summon this card.2300 Writer’s Note: Byakko in my opinion is the strongest of the archetype. His effects even combo off of each other since you can send a monster linked to him or one of your opponent’s monster that are linked. Byakko was actually the monster that made me decided to put a hard once per turnin the effect due to its effect potentially being a firewallesq. King of Cardinal, Ōryū the Yellow DragonLink 4 | LIGHT | Wyrm | EffectL/U/R/D3+ Extra Deck “Cardinal” monstersYou can only use each of this card name’s effects once per turn. (1) When This card is Special Summoned: banish cards face-down equal to the number of cards this card points to. (2) Cards that are linked to this card are unaffected by your opponent’s card effects. (3) During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the GY: You can return 2 other banished LIGHT or “Cardinal” monsters to your Extra Deck or GY, Special Summon this card.2900 Writer’s Note: The “Ace” monster of the archetype. Its Special Summon Effect is by far the best to me, being able to banish your opponent’s cards even on the turn that this card was sent ot the grave is an insane effect that totally disrupts your opponent. On top of that providing your linked cards with protection from all other card effects is pretty nice too.

TheTrueSaiyan
Interesting, as a whole, they're not too bad but the issue is what deck they will be used in so I'll discuss that first. I also don't think they'll see play all in the same Deck so I'll do them individually. The best way to make these card would be the attribute Link 2s like Duelittle Chimera and Missus Radiant (which don't have any other relevant effects other than making these cards easier to summon so I' won't talk too much about them but they're there) and the Troymares. Genbu: Happens to be the same attribute as Needlefiber so if you make Needlefiber and summon a WATER tuner with its effect then you have this guy made. The effect is very dependant on what your opponent is doing if you want to draw more than 1 card. (Technically you can Draw 2 cards of your own accord if you Extra link first but having to Extra link first is just not even worth considering). It's also a huge problem that it doesn't open any of your own monsters zones. This may not be a problem for Decks like Mermail that don't need too much Extra deck space but decks that can spam enough to make this on the side 90+% need some Extra deck zones. There is the issue is that the ruling on whether on not you can extra link going in a "V" direction instead of a "U" is very fuzzy, I recall KoA saying you had to go in a "U" a while back but don't believe KoJ confirm that. Overall it doesn't really advance your gamestate, Just compare it "Excode Talker", both want to be summoned when there is 2 monster in the Extra Monster Zone (so you can summon this to your Main Monster Zone and Draw 2) and both block off your opponent's zones (which at this point is very cliche for monster with multiple upwards arrows). Exode is widely panned as garbage so I'll let you draw your conclusions from there. Seiryu: Troymare Goblin works for this one, and he's not a bad card by any means. Non-targeting, shuffling into the deck is definitely good so a lot of WIND decks will be trying to pull it off. The next effect is the same as Goblin (with LInked instead of co-linked so slightly better). Since you had to use 2 WIND monsters to summon this guy you can revive him at least once and he will actually give you some protection instead of just sitting there. Unlike the others, you actually want this guy to come back during the End Phase other than being a nice "Extra". Definitely a good card, Too good perhaps? Suzaku: Use Electrumite? Yeah, probably not. Anyways, I'm torn on how good the first effect is, on one hand, it's certainly good, but the other, Link monster can't go into defense position. I say it's fine but nothing fantastic since you're not often going to have "Duelittle Chimera" in the EMZ, 3 monsters below it, and 1 other FIRE monster to Link up with. The second effect, counter Links? Really hurts yourself so if you summon it to the EMZ you can't make use of its link marker, but if you summon it to your MMZ you don't get its first effect. Dammed if you do Damned if you don't. Great excuse for your opponent to summon a Fusion/Xyz/Synchro monster in the EMZ first, but they don't even have too since it doesn't even affect the first Link monster so Link decks can still get around it. Basically a Jack of all trades, master of none. Byakko: Troymare Cerberus stands out, and if he is clogging your EMZ you definitely want to get him out ASAP so they may be a decent target for that. Non-targeting send to the GY is only slightly worse than shuffling into the deck but still very powerful. The second effect is just a HOPT Firewall effect, which is good and bad at the same time. Definitely not the strongest of the Archetype (that belongs to Seiryu) unlike you suggested. There is however many more decks that have EARTH link-2s (SPYRAL, Subterror, Gem-Knight, Madolche, Cyberse, Krawlers, Qli, Gouki) so it might actually see the most play depite not being the strongest just because more decks can utilize it. Ōryū: Ummmmmmmmm.................. So I need to make 4 of these Link-3s, arrange them so that I can get them all on the field at the same time, and this guy only get's it's effect off when I still have more monsters it can point to? So I need to have a monster in the EMZ to point down so I can get it to point to at least 2 monsters, then 4 of these cards (which means you have to run 2 different attributes at least) and then have 1 monster other monsters it can point to.......maybe Frankly, if you can make 4 very specific Link 3, at the same time, and have 2 other monsters on the field in such an arranged you can pull this effect off, you may as well slap a Win Condition on it, it's up there with "Armed Dragon Catapult Cannon" being difficult to summon. Banishing Face-Down is only marginally better than Shuffling into the deck. I would almost say that this card is just straight worse than Seiryu (even ignoring summoning conditions) since Seiryu protects all your linked monsters(, probably including itself), while this only protects monsters it points to so doesn't even protect itself and can even protect your opponent's monsters in some cases (like Dark Hole). The main issue of these cards is that they only get effects when they still have monsters to point to and Link-3 isn't a cheap rating to summon. The Boss (Ōryū) needs a complete overhaul. Aside from Seiryu actually being good and Byakko by virtue of decent removal and having a lot of decks that can make it, I can't see the others being played too heavily

I tried making 2 defensive monsters and 2 offensive monsters and it seems that for the more offensive monsters I achieved ny goal. as for the decisive monsters I agree with you review that they are lack luster but I wasn't trying to make them OP at the same time. looking back on Ōryū I agree with you estimation of him and will go back to the drawing board for him. thanks again!
