SnowBunny
An archetype that supports plant monsters and helps summon them out. There are no spell/traps and they gain effs if there are none in your GY, you don't need spells/traps since there are monster effects that help protect your monsters. Level 1 monsters that help summon out other plant monsters or can be used to tribute into the level 8 monsters which you can Special Summon from your hand. Dova
[spoiler=Level 1s]Bloom immediately jumps out at me, considering how much Lonefire is run in Synchro/Fusion spamming decks these days (either for Spore or Predaplant engine respectively) and now that it's searchable...and, to be honest, the second effect does help if you make a misplacement, and potentially opens up the room for Link plays in both of those Decks. To be honest, considering how much those decks are already short for space, I think it would be merely interesting to see the potential decks that would arise. Perhaps limit it to Level 1/8? Your call. Still, generic searching that access the entire archetype...why not? I don't know why Corsage sends itself to the GY then Fusion Summons. I mean, how is it going to Fusion Summon with itself in the GY? Still, archetypal polymerization...nothing really wrong with that. I'm assuming the last effect is a simple activating effect with no restriction, but if so, it's better to say "During your Main Phase: You can..." Just so your opponent has a clear idea of where the effect starts and ends, as some other effects carry on past full stops. It should grant you a bonus on shuffling it anyway, as, well, deck thickening isn't really a bonus in YGO. The situations where you would actually run out of X card are extremely unlikely. Relies on the Fusions to be good. Florigen is an interesting alternative to Lonefire. It has HOPT and needs to be Level 4 or lower, but, while Lonefire would still be used in pure Plants (perhaps even this deck anyway), this card's means to get around your own Normal Summon makes it infinitely better in most scenarios in today's meta. Also, 141 target. I would suggest changing it to Level 4 or lower FIRE Plant, as while that still gets out Lonefire, it has the same potential as Bloom of bricking. Yeah, you'll probably be running this AND Lonefire. Peduncle is rather situational, both requiring the GY AND destruction to be live. And it does nothing else. I mean, it is useful if you can get it off, but for monsters which cannot be Special Summoned by other ways (like all good bosses), you're only wanting to be ending your turn with it if you cannot further your plays. I would suggest removing the requirement for that monster being sent to the GY, in case Dark Law or something similar is active, and simultaneously nerfing the buffs given the summoned monster, while also giving it another effect. Something to make it less situational. Both Petal and Pollen have their uses, and while being worse than Florigen and Bloom, it's not by much. I really like those two cards anyway, and I don't really have any complaints. It's not like you're eating up your Normal Summon through other ways. but why is Pollen the tuner its like the worst possible one to go with. Sepal is good, but not so excessively so as the aforementioned duo...really prefer these last 3 cards to your first 4. [spoiler=Level 8s]Quick OCG note: For an effect to actually activate, you need a colon/semicolon in there somewhere. Hence the Main Phase note from earlier. Otherwise it just applies, or simply can be used without starting a chain, like ATK gain. Also, your monsters all only have 3 effects; not only is "you must have no Spell/Trap Cards" not an effect, it can be added to your first effect to make it properly activate. "If you have no Spell/Trap Cards in your GY: You can Tribute 2 Plant monsters you control, and if you do, Special Summon this card from your hand." Onto your actual monsters...there's nothing really to comment on other than Stigma and Bouquet. They cover your various bases in different ways, normally balanced, some a bit lacking and other bit a worrying, but they come together in a very good set of "boss" monsters. Now, for Bouquet...grabbing a Set Spell/Trap is almost too good on its own, but combined with the prevention of activating in response, you get a really powerful and annoying effect. Look, although it goes against my natural angst against stealing stuff, you could get away with simply removing the prevention to activate, but it might be good to go with simple destruction, or shuffling, or something similar. Stigma, on the other hand, is a bit weak. It's only useful if A) your opponent attacked you B) it survives your opponents turn and C) you are happy to make plays during your MP2 instead of MP1. One idea of a buff is making it be able to search a plant from your Deck, as that grants you much more utility than forcing you to choose from your GY. Also...it's completely generic? Why not have it have to banish a Plant from your GY to Summon it, and also perhaps...end the Battle Phase? You don't really have to end the Battle Phase on Labellum, as it has no HOPT (I think, hard to tell with its weird effect and HOPT ordering) so you can leave the Gardna to Stigma. [spoiler=Extra Deck]Perennation is severely outclassed by Aromaseraphy Jasmine. At most, no, at best it's a 2k beater with a little bit of ATK power to your Plants, but this seemed to be a much more defensive than offensive archetype. Even with the bosses, they can handle themselves; the only real useful thing is the destruction, but that has so many restrictions that if you use it, you're probably already going to win. Anemophily almost has the same problem, except with Sylvan Princessprite this time. Fortunately, the S/T restriction on the bosses means that, for the most part, Anemophily is fine. However, considering that none of these cards technically need each other, I wouldn't run any Level 1 Xyz in here at all. It provides a wall, I guess, but it doesn't work if you splash in other Level 1s, and it has monster effect negation...but really, with the line-up of cards you have here, there's so much more potential to go with rather than either Xyz. Again, Flabellate...why would I bother going into this? There's such a large pool of R8s outside this card, and it basically does the same thing as Anemophily, but a little better and worse in various areas. It doesn't add anything. Vernation is a completely better card than this, and you have both right next to each other. Technically limitless ATK gain, Xyz restocking, and counters to most plays? Vernation has it covered, and is a really good card for plants.Calyx is a great card for Plants in general, even if its stats are meh, and while the same applies to Entomophily, that one deals with you paying your own LP and forcing your opponent to do the same. It doesn't work in the mirror match, true, but both of these are good for different scenarios. I just wish that both of these Synchros and the 2 R8 Xyzs had a little different Summoning requirements, to make them stand out from each other more, especially as the Synchros have identical ATK gaining effects. Torus' ATK gaining effect is useless, considering that your opponent wouldn't attack you since they can read the card, but more than makes up for it considering that it does indeed have staying power AND has negation. Great card, goes into the passive theme of the archetype. You really need to specify what effect you're grabbing from Declinate. It's a weird effect, and never been done before, so you need to be as specific as possible to avoid any confusion in reading and using it. To be honest, I have no idea how to judge an effect like that, but I would say to nerf it in some form. It has massive variable potential, so...yeah. POSY IS SCARY WTF At least it's a wincon, something Flame Lilies didn't have, but....wow. It also gives you a reason to run your Fusion card, but...it also gives a reason to run Poly in any Plant Deck, hell, even just Corsage. It has no staying power if you have Spells/Traps, but even then. I think the Spell/Trap restrictions all combined together just become too much, considering your opponent can't Set or activate or draw them. Just choose 2 of those, or rework it into something that's less volatile. There's quite a few generic cards, and as this isn't an archetype but a series (never mentioned by name) said generic cards have no reason to be inside this Deck than other plant Decks. With Lonefire being a massive FIRE Plant, this will easily slide into any Deck already running it with the few cards that aren't massively restricted, but honestly? It's underwhelming. It's not especially interesting outside of a few cases, and I'm not really seeing what this archetype is doing thematically other than SHS in a few cases. SnowBunny
Thanks for the review @@Dova, I made changes based on what you said and some that I thought needed some. I made most of the more geared towards "Flame Lily" and Fire Plant monster, while they still also have the generic Plant support. I changed all the lv 8 monster that have the Special Summon from hand effect to the way you mentioned. Level 1 Monster ChangesBloom: No changes. I think it is a good searcher as is. Corsage: Now reveals in hand instead of sending to GY. Shuffle effect now shuffles a card in opponent's GY also. Florigen: Special Summons a FIRE Plant only now. Peduncle: Can activate effect if your Plant Monster is removed from the field by battle or card effect. Took away that the Special Summoned monster is unaffected by card effects until the End Phase. Petal: Now a tuner. Pollen: Not a tuner anymore. Sepal: Can only Special Summon if it is a FIRE Plant monster now. Level 8 Monster ChangesApiphily: No significant changes. Bouquet: Now only send a FIRE Plant Monster to banish the Spell/Trap. Efflorescence: No significant changes. Labellum: Took away the end Battle Phase effect. Nectar: Added the effect: Your opponent can only attack Nectar. Thought this card was weak as you just had to crash it into a monster. Stigma: Banish a FIRE Plant to Special Summon it. Ends the Battle Phase now. Can add a banished Plant monster to your hand now. Don't really have another monster that adds from GY or banished monsters to hand so I kept that as is. Extra Deck Monster ChangesPerennation: Banishes Plant Monster from your GY to destroy a card your opponent controls. Easier to use effect. Anemophily: Added an attack gain to its effect. I thought its other effect was pretty powerful, as in it has the permanent negation effect of "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss". Flabellate: Materials are 2 lv 8 "Flame Lily" monsters now. Effect changed send 1 Plant mosnter from your deck to GY, then 1 FIRE Plant monster you control gains 1000 atk and is unaffected by opponent's card effects until the End Phase. Still sets up the GY while protecting a monster. Vernation: Can only attach FIRE Plant Monsters now in exchange for a little more power detach effect that negates the Spell/Trap effects. Calyx: Needs "Flame Lily" Tuner now and gains 600 ATK and DEF for each FIRE Plant monster you control. Entomophily: Modified version of its last ATK/DEF gain. Torus: Needs a non-Tuner "Flame Lily" monster as material now. Gains 400 ATK/DEF for each of your banished Plant Monsters. Declinate: Made effect a little more clearer and can only use it on a Plant Monster in your GY. It is suppose to be like Diamond Dude effect, except for monsters. Posy: Needs 2 "Flame Lily" and 2 Plant Monster for materials now. Effect is now "If your opponent draws a card, you can have your opponent reveal it. It it is a Spell/Trap, you can have your opponent place it on the bottom of their Deck, then they draw 1 card."
