VCR_CAT Posted February 27, 2018 Report Share Posted February 27, 2018 This is one of the first serious themes I designed and posted on YCM, and I decided that it might be fun to go back to my old archetypes and give 'em an old spit-shine. Brush up their card grammar and update their effects and overall design according to my standards today. Previously called "Mecha Armor", this archetype is a sort of "Defend the Castle" union-focused archetype based around pairing pilots with different mechs. It plays with that good old Defend the Castle decktheme strategy, which is similar to a control strategy but with the twist that instead of trading advantage you're simply trying to force the opponent into a position where they can't easily break your field at all. Here are the results of my re-design; it was pretty fun! [spoiler=Mecharmor Pilots] Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 "Mecharmor" Machine monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. A monster equipped with this card gains 1000 ATK, also if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. A "Mecharmor Division" monster can only be equipped with 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster at a time. Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 "Mecharmor" Machine monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. A monster equipped with this card gains 1000 DEF, also if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. A "Mecharmor Division" monster can only be equipped with 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster at a time. Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 "Mecharmor" Machine monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. If the monster equipped with this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. Once per turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect that targets the monster equipped with this card (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. A "Mecharmor Division" monster can only be equipped with 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster at a time. Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 "Mecharmor" Machine monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it. If a monster equipped with this card battles an opponent's monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step, also if the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. A "Mecharmor Division" monster can only be equipped with 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster at a time. (Quick Effect): You can target 1 face-up "Mecharmor" Machine monster you control; equip this card, from your hand or field, to that target. (Quick Effect): You can unequip this card and return it to your hand. You can only use 1 effect of "Auto Mecharmor Pilot" per turn, and only once that turn. If the monster equipped with this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, destroy this card instead. A "Mecharmor Division" monster can only be equipped with 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster at a time. [spoiler=Mecharmor Divisions] Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. If you control no monsters, or you control fewer "Mecharmor Division" monsters than "Mecharmor Pilot" cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0 and it cannot attack. If this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make another attack in a row. Union monsters equipped to this card cannot be targeted by card effects. Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. If you control no monsters, or you control fewer "Mecharmor Division" monsters than "Mecharmor Pilot" cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0 and it cannot attack. While this card has a "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to it, monsters your opponent controls cannot target face-up "Mecharmor" monsters for attacks, except "Steadfast Mecharmor Division". Union monsters equipped to this card cannot be targeted by card effects. Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. If you control no monsters, or you control fewer "Mecharmor Division" monsters than "Mecharmor Pilot" cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0 and it cannot attack. While this card has a "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to it, your opponent cannot target face-up "Mecharmor" cards you control with card effects, except "Versatile Mecharmor Division". Union monsters equipped to this card cannot be targeted by card effects. Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. If you control no monsters, or you control fewer "Mecharmor Division" monsters than "Mecharmor Pilot" cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0 and it cannot attack. Once per turn, while this card has a "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to it: You can discard 1 card; this card can attack your opponent directly this turn. Union monsters equipped to this card cannot be targeted by card effects. Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. While you control at least 1 "Mecharmor" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. You can only Special Summon 1 "Advanced Mecharmor Division" this way per turn. If this card is Special Summoned: You can equip 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster from your Deck to this card, but the monster you equipped cannot be Special Summoned this turn. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0. Union monsters equipped to this card cannot be targeted by card effects. Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) while you have at least 4 "Mecharmor Pilot" Warrior monsters with different Attributes on your field and/or GY. You can only Special Summon 1 "Mecharmor Fortress" this way per turn. If this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster in your GY; equip that target to this card. If there is no "Mecharmor Pilot" card equipped to this card, its ATK/DEF become 0. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can discard 1 card and target cards your opponent controls up to the number of "Mecharmor Pilot" monsters equipped to this card; destroy those targets, then inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each card destroyed. This card cannot attack the turn you use this effect. [spoiler=Spells and Traps] All face-up "Mecharmor" monsters you control gain 300 ATK. While you control no "Mecharmor" Machine monsters: You can Special Summon 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster from your hand. You can discard 1 card; add 1 "Mecharmor" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Armor Base" effect per turn, and only once that turn. Pay 1000 LP and target 1 "Mecharmor Division" monster in your GY; Special Summon that target in face-up Defense Position, and equip 1 "Mecharmor Pilot" monster from your hand or field to it. You can only activate 1 "Armor Ambush" per turn. Shuffle either 2 "Mecharmor Pilot" cards or 2 "Mecharmor Division" cards from your hand into your deck: Draw 3 cards. You can only activate 1 "Armor Recall" per turn. Special Summon 1 "Mecharmor Division" monster from your hand or Deck, and if you do, its effects are negated and it's unaffected by other cards' effects until your next draw phase, also it cannot attack the turn it is Summoned. You can only activate 1 "Armor Reinforcement" per turn. While you control no "Mecharmor Division" cards, the original ATK/DEF of "Mecharmor Pilot" monsters you control becomes their original ATK/DEF +1000. Once per turn, if a "Mecharmor Pilot" monster that was equipped to a "Mecharmor Division" monster is sent to the GY; you can Special Summon that card to your side of the field in face-up Defense Position.
