Recommended Posts

Hi people hioco here with a very effective tutorial on clip masking

What you need to copy this tutorial

Stock [X]
Brushes http://alexjames01.deviantart.com/art/Shaped-Brushes-set-01-48585999

So this is i Photoshop Tutorial and may work with other versions but i would go for CS3

Ok so

1. Open up a new document with the sig dimensions you like (im going with 400/130

2. Now i am going to paste in my stock or maybe render (i have a nice Stock lined up)

3. Next Make a new layer and get a brush of your choice (splatter or vector goes well with clipping masks)

4. Now move your brush layer under your stock or render layer

5. Next Right click on your stock layer and go to create clipping mask

(and this is what it should look like)

6. Now select your background layer

7. Then paste your stock in again whilst the keeping the other two layers where they are (you can then move your stock/render about) the selected layer is the pasted layer which you can move about (also make sure to move the top layer about you get a nice effect and other parts of the stock into the brush)

8. Now add a drop shadow (if you dont know how to do that go to layers>Layer Style>Drop Shadow) to the Brush layer to give it a nice effect (keep all of the drop shadow settings)
this is what it should look like

9. Now the bottom stock layer is editable so you can do whatever you may wish with that layer (maybe duplicate it and then add effects, filters ect) this is one of my outcomes using this stock

And there you have it

if you have any questions or oucomes please post them ^_^

You can do this in gimp. Expect for the brush. You have to use something else. In gimp make a layer with the vector brush and click alpha to selection. Then move the selection with the move tool. (click the square red button in options) then once the selection is moved. click the stock layer and do Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V make a new layer. then move the new layer where you want. Then delete the original brush layer.

If a teacher read this they'd kill me. I used then too much.
