Code Geass-based Archetype "Noble Demons"

Recommended Posts

So, I've been a longtime lurker on these forums, looking at other people's unique ideas for cards and archetypes. I've personally made a ton of fan-made archetypes, but one of my favorite archetypes that I've come up with these days is the "Noble Demons", an archetype based around the 2006-2008 anime "Code Geass" (I know that TCG Konami will never allow this name to exist, but it just fits so well and I haven't come up with another substitute; "Archfiend" doesn't cut it) I haven't seen anyone else do something similar yet, so here goes.

Note that I like to write my cards in my own devised way; with the effects numbered and the effect type listed. If you see any rulings/PSCT issues, please let me know in the comments.

Main Deck Monsters

Hcuolel, Noble Demon of Miracles (Dark Attribute, Level 4, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 0/ DEF 0

(This card is always treated as a "Zero" card).

[1] [Continuous] Take control of all Monsters your opponent controls with a Geass Counter. [2] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, remove 1 Geass Counter from every Monster you control with a Geass Counter, or, if you cannot, send that Monster to the GY. You can only use 1 of the following effects of "Hcuolel, Noble Demon of Miracles" per turn, and only once that turn.

  • [3] [Trigger] If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Noble Demon” card from your deck to your hand, except “Hcuolel, Noble Demon of Miracles”.
  • [4] [Ignition] During the Main Phase: You can target 1 other Monster on the field; place 1 Geass Counter on it.

The magnificent bastard himself. From now on, I will be referring to all the cards by their anime names. The Lelouch/Zero series of cards is designed to be the center focus of Noble Demons, referencing how Lelouch is the person who made the Black Knights possible. All other Noble Demon Monsters only gain their good, useful effects if you control Lelouch/Zero, so keeping him around is paramount. Geass Counters will also show up later as the "gimmick" of Zero.

Nellak, Noble Demon of Ace (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1500/ DEF 800

[1] [Unclassified] You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but if you do, it’s ATK and DEF become 0. [2] [Ignition] If there is a Monster on the field with a Geass Counter, and/or if you control a “Zero” Monster: You can Special Summon this card (from your hand). [3] [Unclassified] If this card is used for an XYZ Summon, you can treat it as a Level 4 Monster. [4] [Continuous] While you control a “Zero” Monster, this card gains the following effects.

  • [5] [Continuous] This card is treated as a Warrior-Type Monster.
  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position, then target 1 “Noble Demon” Monster with a Level in your GY, except “Nellak, Noble Demon of Ace”: Special Summon it, but it cannot activate it’s effects this turn.

You can only use each effect of "Nellak, Noble Demon of Ace" once per turn.

The first black knight of the archetype. All additional Level 5 Noble Demons will have effects 1-5, so keep that in mind because I'll be skipping over it from now on. Kallen's the main reviver of the archetype, being an instant Rank 4/5 of your choice, and even better, if her revived target survives until your next turn, it can activate it's effects. This is all great news..... so long as you control Lelouch/Zero. The archetype is designed completely around Lelouch/Zero, so it comes with the downside that it lacks any archetypal way to make decent plays if you don't control him. Nada. Zilch. Zero (lol). Not even the Spells/Traps will be of help (which we'll see later). So if you're not careful with protecting Lelouch/Zero, you'll be dead in the ground.  The Warrior-Type change will become relevant when we get to the Xyz Monsters.

Igho, Noble Demon of Command (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

1400/ DEF 1600

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position, target 1 “Noble Demon” Monster you control; add from your deck to your hand, 1 “Noble Demon” Monster with the same Level but a different name.

Your second searcher, but only for Monsters. Ohgi is meant to be a play extender, much like how in the anime he's second in command.

Imanim, Noble Demon of Unknown (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1200/ DEF 1200

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can banish up to 2 random “Noble Demon” Monsters from your GY with different names; draw 1 card for each card banished by this effect, then change this card to Defense Position.

Draw power, limited by the fact that it's dead turn 1. Minami is a relatively minor character in the grand scheme of Code Geass, and I couldn't really find another appropriate effect.

Amayigus, Noble Demon of Specialty (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1600/ DEF 1000

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position, then target 1 “Noble Demon” card you control or in your GY and 1 card your opponent controls; return those targets to the hand.

Removal to get rid of problem child cards in the middle of combos and recycling all in one. Again, Sugiyama is a relatively minor character in the grand scheme of Code Geass, and I couldn't really find another appropriate effect.

Ikamat, Noble Demon of Impulse (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1200/ DEF 1200

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position; Special Summon 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand.

Designed to be able to bring out Noble Demons that have been returned to the hand after they've already used their built-in effect to SS themselves, and as a second 1-card Rank 4/5 Xyz. The SS from hand is a reference to how Tamaki's impulsive nature.

Hodot, Noble Demon of Wonder (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1700/ DEF 700

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position; Special Summon to your field, up to 2 of your banished “Noble Demon” Monsters.

Would have named him after miracles, but Lelouch already took that name (how ironic). Not the greatest of effects, but given that there's a few cards in the archetype that banish for cost, he can be a decent recovery option.

Ayugak, Noble Demon of Country (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 600/ DEF 800

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position, then target up to 2 “Noble Demon” Monsters with different names in your GY; add those targets to your hand.

Moar recovery. Synergizes with Tamaki to bring out more Monsters, or for attaching to the Xyz Monsters (we'll see that later).

Atahskar, Noble Demon of Science (Dark Attribute, Level 5, Fiend/Effect)

ATK 1100/ DEF 1000

Effects 1-5

  • [6] [Ignition] You can change this card to Defense Position; add 1 "Noble Demon" Spell/Trap from your deck to your hand.

Yet another searcher, but only for backrow. Again, the backrow is only useful so long as you control Lelouch/Zero.

Noble Demoniac of Peace - Yllannun (Dark Attribute, Level 1, Fiend/Tuner/Effect)

ATK 0/ DEF 0

[1] [Trigger] If this card is Normal or Special Summoned while you control no other “Noble Demon” Cards: You can target 1 DARK “Noble Demon” Monster in your GY; Special Summon it, but it’s effects are negated, then if that Monster is a XYZ Monster, you can treat it as a Monster with a Level equal to it’s original Rank. You can only use this effect of "Noble Demoniac of Peace - Yllannun" once per turn. [2] [Continuous] While you control a “Zero” Monster, this card gains the following effects.

  • [3] [Continuous] This card is treated as a Fairy-Type Monster.
  • [4] [Unclassified] When this card is used as Synchro Material, you can treat it and all other Synchro Materials (that have a Level) as Level 4 Monsters.

A Tuner in a Xyz Deck without a synergistic Level and effect? Yes, it is, sadly. Nunnally's only existence is for the sole Synchro Monster of the archetype, which 99% of the time you will be cheating out through their continuous Trap. She does allow for some synchro plays if you're going for it, but most of the time she's not worth it. As for why Nunnally of all people is a Tuner, you'll see why later.

Spells

Contract with the Geass Witch

Quick-Play Spell Card

(This card is always treated as a “Noble Demon” card).

[1] If you control no cards, or if the only card you control is "C.C., the Geass Witch": Special Summon 1 “Zero" Monster from your hand or deck. For the rest of the turn after you activate this effect, you cannot Special Summon Monsters from the Extra Deck, except Xyz Monsters. You can only activate 1 “Contract with the Geass Witch” per turn.

E-Tele for Lelouch, with more limitations because Lelouch/Zero's effect isn't negated, so it's a +2 in card advantage.

History of the Noble Demons - Beginnings

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Beginnings" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Add 1 "Noble Demon" card from your deck to your hand, except "History of the Noble Demons - Beginnings"
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY, then target the face-up Monster on the field with the highest ATK (your choice, if tied); place 1 Geass Counter on it.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Beginnings" per turn.

MOAR search, made even better that Main Deck Lelouch can search it and fulfill it's requirements. It also gets around Main Deck Lelouch's HOPT on both of his on field effects.

History of the Noble Demons - Shinjuku Ghetto

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Shinjuku Ghetto" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Target face-up Monsters your opponent controls, up to the number of "Zero" and/or "Noble Demon" Monsters you control; destroy those targets.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; destroy the face-up Monster on the field with the highest ATK (your choice, if tied).

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Shinjuku Ghetto" per turn.

Monster removal, referencing the turnabout Lelouch/Zero performed when Ohgi's group was outnumbered in Shinjuku Ghetto. The send to GY effect references the death of Clovis.

History of the Noble Demons - Rallying Cry

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Rallying Cry" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Special Summon from your deck, 1 “Noble Demon” Monster with a different name from all "Noble Demon" Monsters you control. It's effects are negated, also banish it if it is detached from a Xyz Monster.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; change the ATK and DEF of the face-up Monster on the field with the highest ATK to 0.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Rallying Cry" per turn.

The archetype's second E-Tele, but it requires you to control Zero, and if the Monster is detached as Material it's banished for Todoh to retrieve. The card references the JLF hijacking of the lake Kawagutchi convention center hotel, and Lelouch/Zero's hammy speech at the end of the episode.

History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Narita

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Narita" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Make all Monsters you control gain 500 ATK.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; change face-up Monsters your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position, up to the number of "Zero" and/or "Noble Demon" Monsters you control.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Narita" per turn.

Multiple Book of moon, referencing the landslide that happens at Narita.

History of the Noble Demons - Princess Massacre

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Princess Massacre" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Target 1 Monster you control and 1 Monster your opponent controls; place 1 Geass Counter on those targets.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; destroy all Monsters on the field with a Geass Counter, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each Monster destroyed.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Princess Massacre" per turn.

Places Geass Counters on Monsters, but not as a Quick Effect, instead blowing up all Monsters with geass counters and burning the opponent.  Also, poor, poor Euphy.

History of the Noble Demons - First Battle of Tokyo

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - First Battle of Tokyo" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Destroy all other cards on the field, then you can Special Summon 1 "Zero" and/or "Noble Demon" Monster from your hand.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; Special Summon 1 Monster from your opponent's GY to their field, then place 1 Geass Counter on that Monster.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - First Battle of Tokyo" per turn.

Variant of Interrupted Kaiju Slumber for the deck, but it destroys all other cards and only gives you the option to SS a Monster, though only from the hand.

History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Xiaopei

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Xiaopei" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter:  Both players take 500 damage for every "Zero" and/or "Noble Demon" Monster you control.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; destroy as many Monsters you control as possible (min. 1), then send 1 card your opponent controls to the GY.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Battle of Xiaopei" per turn.

The best removal the deck has to offer, though it requires you to sacrifice all Monsters you've got. References the Black Knight's defeat by Xingke.

History of the Noble Demons - Second Battle of Tokyo

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Second Battle of Tokyo" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Set 1 "Noble Demon" Continuous Spell from your deck, except "History of the Noble Demons - Second Battle of Tokyo".
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; double the ATK of 1 "Zero" and/or "Noble Demon" Monster you control, until the End Phase.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Second Battle of Tokyo" per turn.

More copies of Limiter removal for your Xyz so they hit even harder, without the restriction of them blowing up.

History of the Noble Demons - Betrayal of Zero

Continuous Spell Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. You can only use each of the following effects of "History of the Noble Demons - Betrayal of Zero" once per turn.

  • [2] When this card is activated while you control a "Zero" Monster, or while there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: Special Summon 1 "Noble Demon"  Monster from your hand or deck to your opponent's field, then draw 1 card.
  • [3] [Quick] If you control a “Zero” Monster, or if there are a Monster(s) on the field with a Geass Counter: You can send this face-up card from your Spell/Trap zone to the GY; Set 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Requiem of Zero" from your hand or deck, and if you do, place 5 Requiem Counters on it when it is activated.

You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Betrayal of Zero" per turn.

Draw power, though at the cost of giving your opponent a Monster, but you should be able to remove it before they get a use out of it, so you only draw 1. It's also the tutor to the card that cheats out the Synchro Monster Nunnally was supposed to Summon.

Traps

History of the Noble Demons - Requiem of Zero

Continuous Trap Card

[1] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, if you do not control a “Zero” Monster, destroy this card. [2] [Continuous] Each time a Geass Counter is placed on a Monster, place 1 Requiem Counter on this card. [3] [Continuous] If this card would be destroyed, you can remove 1 Geass Counter or Requiem Counter from anywhere on the field instead. [4] [Quick] You can send this face-up card you control with 10 Requiem Counters on it to the GY; Special Summon 1 "Hcuolel, the Noble Demon Emperor" from your Extra Deck, ignoring it's Summoning Conditions. You can only activate 1 "History of the Noble Demons - Requiem of Zero" per turn.

The way you cheat out the Synchro Monster Nunnally was supposed to Summon. If set by Betrayal of Zero, you'll get a head start and probably be able to pull off it's effect, and given the doozy the Synchro Monster is, it's worth it.

Extra Deck Monsters

Zero, King of Miracles (Dark Attribute, Rank 4, Warrior/XYZ/Effect)

ATK 500/ DEF 500

2+ Level 4 “Noble Demon” Monsters

[1] [Continuous] Take control of all Monsters your opponent controls with a Geass Counter. [2] [Continuous] Once per turn, during the End Phase, remove 1 Geass Counter from every Monster you control with a Geass Counter, or, if you cannot, send that Monster to the GY. You can only use each of the following effects of "Zero, King of Miracles" once per turn.

  • [3] [Quick] You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, then target 1 other Monster on the field; place 1 Geass Counter on it.
  • [4] [Trigger] If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can target 1 “Noble Demon” Monster with a Level in your GY; Special Summon it.

The man of miracles. A quick effect snatch steal for 1 turn is really good, and it's on a rank 4 to boot, though to compensate it's archetype locked so as to not be heavily abused. The problem the deck has will not be difficulties getting to Zero, given that all of Main Deck Lelouch, Kallen, and Tamaki can make Zero by themselves, but keeping Zero alive. No protection, though a floating effect will give you some recourse.

Knoble Demon Frame, Burai (Dark Attribute, Rank 5, Machine/XYZ/Effect)

ATK 2200/ DEF 2300

2 Level 5 Monsters

[1] [Unclassified] You can also XYZ Summon this card using 1 Warrior-Type “Noble Demon” Monster you control with a Level as the Material. You can only Summon 1 "Knoble Demon Frame, Burai" this way per turn. [2] [Continuous] Cannot attack unless it has XYZ Material. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can attach 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand or field to this card as XYZ Material. [4] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, or send 1 Monster you control with a Geass Counter to the GY, then target 1 face-up Card your opponent controls; negate it’s effects until the end of this turn. This is a Quick Effect if you control a “Zero” Monster. [5] [Continuous] While you control a “Zero” Monster, this card gains the following effects.

  • [6] [Continuous] Your opponent cannot target “Zero” Monsters you control for attacks.
  • [7] [Continuous] If a “Zero” Monster you control would be destroyed by a card effect, you can destroy this card instead.

And here we are, the Knightmare Frames. The Noble Demon Xyz are partially based around Super Quants, what with the no attack restriction and attaching materials, which makes sense because both are just mechas being piloted. The Warrior-Type change also becomes important, turning all of your Noble Demons into 1 card Xyz, although its limited to the Main Deck Monsters and has a HOPT so as to not recreate Zoodiacs. Kallen in particular becomes extremely deadly, as she's now a 1-card 2 Xyz generator. The detach to negate effect is the negate that every archetype seems to have these days, and it becomes a nasty disruption tool if you control Lelouch/Zero, which can create some maddening scenarios given that you've just snatch steal'd a monster and then negated a card. It also contains an effect to protect Zero from battle so that his pathetic 500 ATK/DEF doesn't get stomped by everything in the game. Substituting itself for Zero to live isn't as great, but given how important Zero is, it's necessary.

Knoble Demon Frame, Glasgow (Dark Attribute, Rank 5, Machine/XYZ/Effect)

ATK 2300/ DEF 2200

2 Level 5 Monsters

[1] [Unclassified] You can also XYZ Summon this card using 1 Warrior-Type “Noble Demon” Monster you control with a Level as the Material. You can only Summon 1 "Knoble Demon Frame, Glasgow" this way per turn. [2] [Continuous] Cannot attack unless it has XYZ Material. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can attach 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand or field to this card as XYZ Material. [4] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, or send 1 Monster you control with a Geass Counter to the GY, then target 1 “Noble Demon” Monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK until the end of this turn.

The second Knightmare that can protect Zero from card destruction, though with a more offensive flavor. The highest ATK the Xyz get is 2700, so this is just to give them that extra oomph to push over 3000+ Monsters.

Knoble Demon Frame, Sutherland (Dark Attribute, Rank 5, Machine/XYZ/Effect)

ATK 2500/ DEF 2000

2 Level 5 Monsters

[1] [Unclassified] You can also XYZ Summon this card using 1 Warrior-Type “Noble Demon” Monster you control with a Level as the Material. You can only Summon 1 "Knoble Demon Frame, Sutherland" this way per turn. [2] [Continuous] Cannot attack unless it has XYZ Material. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can attach 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand or field to this card as XYZ Material. [4] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, or send 1 Monster you control with a Geass Counter to the GY, then target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy it. This is a Quick Effect if you control a “Zero” Monster. [5] [Continuous] While you control a “Zero” Monster, this card gains the following effects.

  • [6] [Continuous] Your opponent cannot target “Zero” Monsters you control for attacks.
  • [7] [Quick] If a “Zero” Monster you control is targeted by a card effect: You can destroy this card; negate the activation.

Targeting protection and backrow popping. Targeting protection by itself is nice, though it only negates the activation and doesn't ensure that the card is sent to the GY upon resolution. Controlling a Sutherland + destruction protection is sure to give your opponent a migraine.

Knoble Demon Frame, Akatsuki (Dark Attribute, Rank 5, Machine/XYZ/Effect)

ATK 2600/ DEF 1900

2 Level 5 Monsters

[1] [Unclassified] You can also XYZ Summon this card using 1 Warrior-Type “Noble Demon” Monster you control with a Level as the Material. You can only Summon 1 "Knoble Demon Frame, Akatsuki" this way per turn. [2] [Continuous] Cannot attack unless it has XYZ Material. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can attach 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand or field to this card as XYZ Material. [4] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card, or send 1 Monster you control with a Geass Counter to the GY, then target 1 Monster on the field; destroy it.

The Monster popping counterpart to the Sutherland. Also has the highest ATK out of the base Rank 5 Monsters.

Ascendant Knoble Demon Frame, Guren (Dark Attribute, Rank 6, Machine/XYZ/Effect

ATK 2700/ DEF 1500

3 Level 6 Monsters

[1] [Unclassified] You can also XYZ Summon this card using 1 “Nellak, Noble Demon of Ace” or 1 “Noble Demon” XYZ Monster, except “Ascendant Knoble Demon Frame, Guren”, as Material (Transfer it’s Materials to this card). You can only Summon 1 "Ascendant Knoble Demon Frame, Guren" this way per turn. [2] [Continuous] Cannot attack unless it has XYZ Material. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can attach 1 “Noble Demon” Monster from your hand or field to this card as XYZ Material. [4] [Continuous] Once per turn, if a “Noble Demon” and/or "Zero" card(s) you control would be destroyed (by battle or card effect), you can detach 2 XYZ Materials from this card instead, or, if you control a "Zero" Monster, you can detach 1 XYZ Material instead. [5] [Continuous] While you control a “Zero” Monster, this card gains the following effects.

  • [6] [Continuous] Your opponent cannot target “Zero” Monsters you control for attacks.
  • [7] [Trigger] Once per Battle Phase, if this card destroys an opponent’s Monster by battle: You can send 1 Monster you control with a Geass Counter to the GY; this card can make a second attack in a row.

The boss of the deck, Guren provides even more protection, though this time not just to Zero, but to the entire archetype. It also comes with a double attacking effect that can push for game if paired with Glasgow.

Hcuolel, the Noble Demon Emperor (Light Attribute, Level 12, Fiend/Synchro/Effect)

ATK 0/ DEF 3000

1 “Noble Demon” Tuner + 2 or more Non-Tuner Monsters, including at least 1 “Zero” Monster

(This card is always treated as a “Zero” card).

Must be Synchro Summoned using the above Materials. This card’s Synchro Summon cannot be negated. You can only control 1 “Hcuolel, the Noble Demon Emperor”. [1] [Continuous] Neither player can activate the effects of cards in their possession, except “Hcuolel, the Noble Demon Emperor”. [2] [Continuous] All other Monsters you control gain 3000 ATK. [3] [Ignition] Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 “Noble Demon Subject Token” (Fiend/LIGHT/Level 4/ATK 0/DEF 0).

Sike, this is the big boss. Okay, not really, he's hard to get out because you have to get Lelouch/Zero in the GY, get Nunnally on the field with no other Noble Demons, revive him, either already have another Monster or Summon another Monster from anywhere, and then Synchro Summon the Demon Emperor, all without being disrupted. He is, however, easier to get out with the continuous Trap, and with the doozy of an effect that is complete lockdown of all other activated effects, he's worth using. He also explains why Nunnally of all people is the Tuner; remember that ridiculous float in R2 Ep 25, the one where Nunnally was chained to the front of? Yep, I'm awful.

C.C., the Geass Witch (Dark Attribute, Link 1, Spellcaster/Link/Effect)

Link Arrow Bottom Right

ATK 1000/ DEF N/A

1 "Noble Demon" Monster with a Level

Cannot be used as Link Material. [1] [Continuous] This card cannot have Geass Counters placed on it. [2] [Ignition] During the Main Phase, if you do not control a "Zero" Monster, you can activate this effect: For the rest of this turn, this card is also treated as a “Zero” card, also during your and your opponent’s next turn, “Noble Demon” Xyz Monsters in your possession cannot activate their effects. [3] [Continuous] If a "Zero" Monster you control would be destroyed by battle, you can banish this card you control or in your GY instead. You can only use this effect of "C.C., the Geass Witch" once per turn.

For the cases where you can't get Main Deck Lelouch to your hand turn 1. Linking away any Noble Demon for a temporary Zero is good, though you better make a Zero or some generic Xyz that turn because everything else is negated.

well im have habit of making reviews in parts so for this part im gonna say this

you don't need to include the type of the effect (continuous, ignition, etc) while its official term it don't necessarily printed on irl cards. also i notice from my skim reading that your cards on average has more than 3 effect. now, having multiple effect isn't necessary wrong but with each stack of effects the card get more and more difficult to balanced especially when each effect is a dictionary thick by it self

Hcuolel: its basically steal potentially huge number of monster for free each turn on top being searcher. the end phase "upkeep or pop" is not really limiting the card crazy potential (the pop actually make sure your opponent cannot get back the monster) but of course rather than wait the pop happen you can just use the kidnapped monster as material. the closest thing to this card is Graydles but even then their effects require very specific condition to trigger and for the most part is reactive as opposed to this card active effect. overall i think this card is a bit to powerful

Nellak: a really good extender that pretty much instant 3 material for rank 4. a bit too generic since there no archetypal limit on it

on the side note what the heck are 1-5 effect?

This archetype seems like there is so much thought and lore behind each card and would be fun to play after beating the archetype learning curve (which looks quite steep) this is very intimidating but also really cool!

See Nellak. The effects with the numbers 1 through 5 are shared with (mostly) every main deck member.

I just like putting the type of effect (I find that it helps me keep track of what's what, and clears up confusion when I'm trying to explain to other people what's what).

i see, tbh it actually confused me instead especially when the effect is labelled using non-official term like (unknown) not only that i might miss-labelled certain effect and condition (yes condition is different than effect even if has similar writing structure)

that being said this means all almost all monster have the free and problematic control switch effect instantly make them OP

What? No, only Lelouch/Zero have the control switch effects. Nellak and co only SS themselves if you control Lelouch/Zero. I said that (most of the) all other Main Deck Monsters share effects 1-5 with Nellak, not Lelouch/Zero.

ah ok,, sorry for the miss understanding on my part. so with nellak effect in mind all of them pretty much extend like crazy despite HOPT pretty much on par with BA. and remember this archetype dont have archetypal condition to prevent other archetype to use them as engine

Igho:

Imanim: its...not dead as you may think. dumping 2 names to GY  is actually pretty easy and the value is not losing much

Amiyigus: its a fine removal/recurrsion effect

Ikamat: further extention so its really good

Hodot: now this a bit damgerous as it is. it summon 2 monster without negating their effects. sure all the cards have HOPT but value wise it already giving way to much for such simple activation and it even combo for virtually +4 with Imanim

Ayugak: its fine although its easy to cut this for more better members of the archetype
