I recolor first, Mew, but, for Ash's hat for instance, I add detail.

(Ash's hat was plain white at first).

I also redo some of their clothing colors, so they aren't all one color.

 

Edit:

I did Houndoom, which I detailed the mouth, eyes, and fire.

Don't just re-color when it comes to recoloring. By detail' date=' I don't mean put a color somewhere else. I mean add more shading, where a color needs to be, add that color. I'll make a better example.
