Vogelknight [ Archetype / Written ]

Just wanted to create a Winged Beast archetype with little bit more unique mechanics and try out the OCG effect formatting to see if these will take less space and be more understandable.
I imagine these as medieval humanoid birds (sketches are bit too rough to upload at this point), something like more armored and European-looking Dragunity-like birdpeople.
When it comes to effects, all monsters share this hard once per turn for each of their abilities:
One individual effect that activates when they battle plus a somewhat generic effect that allows the archetype's spell cards to use their full power.

Examples:

Vogelknight Robin (WIND)
Level 2
[ Winged Beast / Effect ]  ATK/ 1200 DEF/900
You can activate and effects of a card with this name only once per turn each.
① If you activate a "Featherhex:" Spell Card (Quick Effect): You can pay 800 LP; That card can activate both of its effects.
② If this card battles (Quick Effect): You can make the attack a direct attack; Return the attacking monster to the hand at the end of the Damage Step.

Featherhex: Index (SPELL)
[Normal Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:
• Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Vogelknight" monster from your Deck with a different name from monsters you control and monsters you Summoned during this turn (if any).
• Add 1 "Vogelknight" monster from your GY to your hand.
You can activate "Featherhex: Index" only once per turn.

The remaining ones i have so far, if the idea sounds interesting enough: (fingers crossed the spoiler option still works)

Vogelknight Rook (WIND)
Level 4
[ Winged Beast / Effect ]  ATK/ 1500 DEF/500
You can activate and effects of a card with this name only once per turn each.
① If you activate a "Featherhex:" Spell Card (Quick Effect): You can pay 800 LP; That card can activate both of its effects.
② If a "Vogelknight" monster you control battles (Quick Effect): Each player can reveal 1 monster in their hand; Return monsters involved in the battle to the hand at the start of the Damage Step,
except monsters with the same name as the cards revealed.

Vogelknight Harrier (WIND)
Level 5
[ Winged Beast / Effect ]  ATK/ 1900 DEF/1600
You can activate and effects of a card with this name only once per turn each.
① If you activate a "Featherhex:" Spell Card (Quick Effect): You can pay 800 LP; That card can activate both of its effects.
② If this card battles (Quick Effect): You can return 1 "Vogelknight" monster you control to the hand; Your opponent returns the last monster(s) they Summoned that is still face-up on the field to the hand.

Vogelknight Dove (WIND)
Level 4
[ Winged Beast / Effect ]  ATK/ 1000 DEF/800
You can activate and effects of a card with this name only once per turn each.
① If you activate a "Featherhex:" Spell Card (Quick Effect): You can pay 800 LP; That card can activate both of its effects.
② If this card battles (Quick Effect): You can negate the attack; Special Summon 1 "Vogelknight" monster from your hand.

Featherhex: Vortex (SPELL)
[Quick-Play Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:
• If your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card, negate that card's effect(s) until the End Phase.
• Banish 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls or in their GY.
You can activate "Featherhex: Vortex" only once per turn.

Featherhex: Helix (SPELL)
[Normal Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:
• Neither player can activate Spell/Trap Card effects during this turn's Battle phase.
• Draw 1 card.
You can activate "Featherhex: Helix" only once per turn.

Featherhex: Redux (SPELL)
[Quick-Play Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:
• Shuffle up to 5 "Featherhex:" cards with different names from your GY to the Deck.
• Add 1 "Featherhex:" card from your GY to your hand, except "Featherhex: Redux".
You can activate "Featherhex: Redux" only once per turn.

Featherhex: Matrix (SPELL)
[Normal Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:
• Discard 1 "Vogelknight" or "Featherhex:" card from your hand; draw 2 cards.
• Draw 1 card.
You can activate "Featherhex: Matrix" only once per turn.

Featherhex: Redux (SPELL)
[Quick-Play Spell Card]
You must control a "Vogelknight" monster or no monsters to activate this card.
Activate one of the following effects:

• Add 1 "Featherhex:" card from your GY to your hand, except "Featherhex: Redux".
You can activate "Featherhex: Redux" only once per turn.

As a whole this seems like a wonderful idea! I would love to see a card that forces attacks!

For the card I quoted I had minor concerns. The first effect of Redux seems under powered, can it also draw you a card or "target 5 "Featherhex:" cards in your GY; your opponent chooses 1 to add to your hand shuffle the rest into your deck". That or this card could be more powerful if you had a continuous spell that activated 1 of 2 effects each turn but banished 3 cards from your GY as the end part of the effect (you target them on activation) so you can use this to avoid that?

I was actually going to say the same thing, because the rest seemed to solid and balanced. However, I actually think it might be fine as is, considering this archetype has quite a lot of draw cards already, so adding yet another one might be a bit over the top. Matrix even draws 3 if both of its effects are live! (But you discard 1, though I still think it's a bit crazy)

There's probably more nuances one could get into, but I think the cards are pretty good as they are, if just a little underpowered on their own. It does work as a draw engine of sorts, though.

Thanks for the insight, guys :) glad to hear these aren't totally busted or overpowered. (will take note in maybe tweaking the draw portions).
I thought, since they don't have as strong as swarm power as modern archetypes, i could compensate with more draw power and such,

I will post a few more cards to wrap this up, maybe in a few days. (something like a Field Spell is a must, something to manipulate battle damage or LP costs), as well as a few tiers of boss monsters to strive towards. Thanks again :))

I just realized cards being returned to the hand seems like a consistent thing that happens so you can also lean into that with continous cards! Like "Once per turn, If a monster is returned to its owner's hand: You can Special Summon 1 "Vogelknight" monster from your hand.

That and/or lean into battle with a continuous spelll. would love if all of these had 2 effects just like the rest of the spells!

Lastly would love to see a boss monster!
