[spoiler=the definition of a lupid...]FLAME-SHELLED LUPID

So named for their wolfish appearances and tendencies, Lupids are born in a rock hard egg filled with molten lava. Similar to a chrysalis growing into a butterfly, the pups form skeletons and internal organs as soon as 30 days after being laid. When the egg hatches, the pups are very hot to touch and shake off the lava as if it were water, splashing about in it. Eventually, soft plates harden and create a diamond-hard defense from predators. Lava can also accumulate on these dark colored plates, thickening their shells; elder Lupids are often identified by the humongous build-up on their shells.

The openings resembling miniature volcanoes on their shells lead to storage chambers of crude petroleum secreted by their body. When in danger or enraged, the Lupids will reflexively open a flap to the chamber--as the petrol rockets out of the chamber, the flap that has swung open rubs quickly against rough ridges on the inner walls of the opening, creating a spark that ignites the petrol and shoots a thick, hot liquid at lava-like temperatures. The Lupid is able to curl up almost entirely and can ignite mid-air after having rolled off of a steep incline, creating a spinning, rock hard wheel of fire in the air. Avoiding the attack is nearly impossible.

Though it doesn't seem like the case, Lupids are extremely maternal and paternal creatures that will care for and coexist with many generations in a clan. A mother will sit next to and protect a clutch of eggs, not straying until they have hatched; she must rely on the father to bring back food for her. She will occasionally spout weak flames from her back to keep the nest at a suitable temperature of around 300 degrees Fahrenheit (148 C).

[spoiler=Defenition of Efreeti ^-^]An Efreeti is a human, who has usually ended up burning in volcanoes. Their pets are usually the Lupids described above. obviously this is in fantasy.
