But First He Lit It On Fire
Basically, my approaches to buffing the archetype are as follows: Bolster most of the cards of the archetype, give more uses to Venom Counters, tie the boss monsters into the archetype proper, and give them a few odds and ends to tie into the âVenomâ Fusion Dragon archetype. In addition, most of these cards grow more powerful while âVenom Swampâ (itself being also reworked here) is out on the field. I also added 2 Tuners in the Cobra and Snake reworks, made those prior 2 Flip and Pendulum monsters respectively to help the archetype tap into new sorts of resources, and even made an entirely NEW âVenomâ monster thatâs also FIRE, designed to make the entire âVenomâ archetype compatible with âRekindlingâ (which would combine especially well with Snake Rain). Speaking of Rekindling and Snake Rain, most of the cards have effects to get their banished selves and their fellows (and in one case ALL Banished cards) into the GY, to serve as fuel for the boss monsters ATK/DEF gains and Banishing effects. (If the text for the cards shown below is incomplete, Iâll fill the rest in at my next moment of convenience. If itâs things like ATK/DEF, Types and/or Attributes, those SHOULD be the same as their original counterparts.) Vennominaga the Deity of Venom This card's name becomes "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field, but is still treated as an "Venom" card. Must be Special Summoned with "Rise of the Snake Deity" or by its own effect. Cannot be targeted with card effects, Tributed, or used it as Material. Is unaffected by other cards and their effects. Gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each Reptile monster in your GY. If this card leaves your field: You can banish 1 Reptile monster from your field or GY; Special Summon this card. If this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: Place 1 Divine-Venom Counter on it. If the 3rd Divine-Venom Counter is placed on this card, you win the Duel. Vennominon the King of Venom (DARK) level 8 Reptile/Effect This card's name becomes "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field, but is still treated as an "Venom" card. You can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 âVenomâ monster, and, while âVenom Swampâ is in the field, during your opponentâs turn. If this card would be Banished Facedown, it is Banished Face-up instead. Gains 500 Original ATK/DEF for each Reptile monster in your GY. If this card leaves your field: You can banish other 1 Reptile monster from your hand, field or GY; either Special Summon this card, or add it to your hand. ATK/0 DEF/0 Rise of the Venom Deity Trap Card This card's name becomes "Rise of the Snake Deity" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field, but is still treated as an "Venom" card. If a face-up "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes" you control is Destroyed by Battle or leaves the field by an opponentâs card or effect: Special Summon 1 "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" from your hand, Deck or GY; Apply the following effects for the rest of the Duel: â âVenomâ monsters you control gain ATK equal to their original DEF, and DEF equal to their Original ATK. â Once per turn, you can send all Banished cards to the GY, but their effects are Negated for the rest of the turn. Venom Rain Trap Card Discard any number of cards (min. 1); Send up to 4 âVenomâ cards from your hand, Deck or Banishment to the GY for each Discarded card, and/or place Venom Counters on all monsters your opponent controls equal to the number of Discarded cards. If "Venom Swamp" is on the field, you can activate this card from your hand. During the End Phase, If this card is in your GY while you control a Face-up "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes" or âVennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakesâ: You can Shuffle this card into your Deck; Draw 1 card. Neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation. Starving Venom Swamp Field Spell This card's name becomes "Venom Swamp" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field. While this card is on the field, âVenomâ monsters you control are also DARK-Attribute. During each player's End Phase: Place 1 Venom Counter on each face-up monster. Non-âVenomâ Monsters lose 500 ATK/DEF for each Venom Counter on them, and are Destroyed if their ATK or DEF becomes 0 by this effect. You can Fusion Summon 1 âVenomâ Fusion monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or either field as Fusion Material. You can only use this effect of âStarving Venom Swampâ once per turn. Venom Ambush Counter Trap Activate only when a face-up "Venom" monster you control is declared as an attack target. Negate the attack and end the Battle Phase. Then, you can place 1 Venom Counter on all monsters your opponent controls and apply 1 of the following effects: âGain 500 LP for each Venom Counter on the field. âChange the battle positions of any âVenomâ monsters you control. âSpecial Summon 1 âVenomâ monster from your hand or Deck. While âVenom Swampâ is on the field, you can Activate this card from your hand. Venom Deityâs Command Trap Card Activate by showing your opponent 1 "Venom" monster in your hand. Apply 1 of the following effects: â Negate the activation and effect of an opponent's Spell/Trap, and destroy it. â Negate the Special Summon of an opponentâs monster and Destroy it. â Add 1 âVenomâ card from your Deck or GY to your hand. While you control a Face-up âVennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakesâ, you can Activate this card from your hand, and also, neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation. Pyre-Venom Cornsnake (FIRE) Level 4 Reptile/Effect (Quick Effect) You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) while âVenom Swampâ is on the field. While this card is in your GY or Face-up on the field; âVenomâ monsters in your GY are also FIRE, and their DEF becomes 200. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can place 1 Venom Counter on 1 monster your opponent controls. During the End Phase, if this card is Banished; Send it to the GY. ATK/1800 DEF/200 Hyper-Venom Snake Pendulum Scales:0 You can remove 8 Venom Counters from either field; Apply 1 of the following effects: â From your hand or Deck, Normal Summon/Set 1 âVennominon the King of Poisonous Snakesâ, Set 1 âRise of the Snake Deityâ, and/or Activate 1 âSnake Rainâ. â You can Set 1 âVenomâ, âPolymerizationâ and/or âFusionâ Spell/Trap each from your hand or Deck. Reptile/Pendulum/Tuner/Effect (Quick Effect) Can be Special Summoned this card from your hand or Pendulum Zones while âVenom Swampâ is on the field. If a monster(s) is Summoned, place 1 Venom Counter on all monsters on the field for each monster Summoned. During each playerâs End Phase, place Venom Counters on all monsters on the field equal to the number of Venom Counters already on the field.
