Dark Magician of Rituals (DARK)

Level 8

Spellcaster/Effect

You can Tribute 1 non-effect Ritual monster you control (Quick Effect): Either Special Summon this card from your hand or GY, or add 1 Spell/Trap to your hand from your Deck or GY. Thrice per turn (Quick Effect), You can Ritual Summon 1 non-effect Ritual monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, who’s Level is equal to or less than the number of cards/effects your opponent activated this turn. If this card leaves your field by an opponent’s card: You can Ritual Summon 1 Non-effect Ritual monster from your hand, Deck or GY.

Ritual of Dark Magic

Quick-play Spell

(This card is always also a Ritual Spell.)
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any Non-Effect Ritual Monster from your hand, Deck, GY, or Banishment. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand, Deck or field whose total ATK/DEF equals or exceeds the Total ATK/DEF of the Ritual Monster. While you control a Face-up “Dark Magician” monster, You can activate this card from your hand during either player’s turn, and also, during the End Phase, you can return this to your hand (from your GY.) Neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation.

Decree of Dark Magic

Trap Card

For the rest of this Duel, apply the following effects.
● Non-effect Ritual monsters you control can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each, and if they attack a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage.
● If you Ritual Summon a non-effect Ritual monster, it gains ATK equal to it’s original DEF, and DEF equal to it’s original ATK. You gain LP equal to the gained ATK/DEF.
While you control a Face-up “Dark Magician” monster, you can activate this card from your hand, and also, you can Banish this card from your hand or GY Facedown: Add 1 Spell/Trap from your Deck or GY to your hand.

Basically, the idea is to try and make the original “Magician of Black Chaos” and other non-effect monsters more useful in this day and age. Non-Effect Ritual Monsters are, quite possibly, THE ABSOLUTE WEAKEST kind of card that can physically exist in the TCG/OCG (I’m unfamiliar with Rush Duels, but I hear Ritual Monsters/Spells got some QOL tweaks when they were ported over.) In fact, I can’t recall a time when anyone would play them for their own merits in a halfway serious setting (aside from perhaps “Hungry Burger” and that new cooking archetype it became a part of, but even THAT’S going to be short lived with the advent of it’s new ritual/effect monster retrain.) It’s simply too many resources for too lackluster of a result… BUT, my trio of cards here would help rectify that, both by making their Summonings more frequent/easy, and by making the monsters themselves worth more, both in and of themselves and in tandem with other cards.

”Dark Magician of Rituals” for example has a lot of use for them… It can use them as Tribute Fodder for it’s non-OPT Quick Effect to either Summon itself (from your hand or GY) or to search out any 1 Spell/Trap. It can also, on a Thrice-Per-Turn (Quick Effect), Ritual Summon them from nearly anywhere so long as your opponent is spamming enough cards and effects (making the card act kinda like a mishmash of Nibiru and Maxx-“C”, in that it’s designed to make your opponent hesitate about doing, certain things rather than stopping them outright). And of course it has a floating effect where, if your opponent offs it in any way, you can get out 1 more non-effect Ritual monster.

“Ritual of Dark Magic” is a Spell-Speed 4 combo Quick-Play/Ritual Spell that can also easily get out non-effect Ritual monsters, provided they ATK/DEF requirements are met from it’s would-be tributes (this also means that Xyz and Link monsters are fair game for tributing). AND, as the cherry on top, controlling a “Dark Magician” monster lets you activate the card from your hand during either players turn, and then lets you add it back to your Hand during the end of your turn.

And “Decree of Dark Magic” is a “Morganite”-style card that applies permanent effects for the rest of the duel, turning your non-effect Rituals into hulked out  piercing damage berserkers, while also juicing up your LP to equal their gained ATK/DEF. And like with RoDM, it has additional effect while you control a Face-up “Dark Magician” monster, mainly that it can be activated form your hand now, and that it can Banish itself Facedown to search out another Spell/Trap.

Being able to search any spell/trap is kinda busted. Triple tactics thrust is already good and it only searches normals.

Like I said, the searches require either non-effect Ritual monsters (aka the otherwise WORST kind of card in the game) or “Dark Magician” monsters (who already have a fair few cards that can search Spells/Traps like this).

More to the point, do you think these cards would have non-effect Ritual monsters see any real play?
