Meti's Music Discussion Thread

Welcome to Meti's Music Discussion Thread. I know I am not a Moderator, but I still have the right to post this.

Now, in this thread, you are allowed to discuss anything about music. You may post links to some of your favorite songs, post the lyrics to them as well, discuss/comment other's favorite songs/genres/artists, as well as compare them to your own.

You may also discuss stuff that has nothing to do with songs, but something to do with Music Literature, like learning how to read/write music. Or learning how to play music as well. Like learning certain scales, how to find scales, chords, the two Trebel and Bass Clefts, as well as harmonics.

You may also discuss the music you are currently listening to.

Remember, you may talk about any genre of music that you want. Including, Rock(and all it's variety of sub-genres) Classical, Rap, R+B, Hip Hop, Country, or experimental. Pop and Electro...

Thanks for reading and using this thread, as it's true hope to keep a load of Threads about music.

I'm here to talk about one of my favourite artists, "Weird Al" Yankovic. As those of you that have ever heard one of his songs know, he's a parodial artist, making parodies of songs such as "Ridin' Dirty" (White & Nerdy) and "I love Rock&Roll" (I love Rocky Road). I think that Weird Al is one of the greatest artists alive.

If i was to make a thread like this, i wouldnt only point out the Genres i liked and the Mainstream, its common sense to include to variety basics to attract more members.

The List would consist of;

Rock, Metal, RnB, Hip Hop, Dance, Electronica, Goth, Country, Classical, Indie, Emo and Pop. That way you would cover more ground and attract More attention.

Do remember, as an actual Dj and a Music Lover, i take Music seriously.

DJ: Notice the "any genre" part of that sentence?

I would like to add:

...I am also a musician' date=' maybe not a DJ, but I know alot about music, and I take it seriously as well. And I didn't just list down what I liked...I listed Rap, Hip-Hop, and R+B, and Country, I hate those genreas....And notice hw I put "Rock([b']and it's many sub-genres)"

Rock has alot of Sub-Genres....Including, Metal, Alternative, Pop Rock, and Classic Rock....But I just listed a few because I didn't want to overload the thread post.

Umbra: Perhaps read next time, i was refering to the following sentence, the list of genres given.

Meti: You didnt mention Pop, one of the worlds biggest genres, or Dance / Electronica, which has by far the most Subgenres (Electronic, Electro, Dance, Hard-Dance, Trance, Techno, Dark-Trance, Euphoria, Hard-House, DnB, Garage, House, EBM, industrial, Future-Pop, euro-Pop, Euro-Dance, TBM, Noise, Ambient, darkwave etc.etc.)

Electronica could have been mentioned.

Pointless discussion. Drop it already, everybody. :/

I find it interesting how many Rock/Metal bands sometimes come up with amazing ballads/slow music. Take Metallica for example. They have crap like Master of Puppets, that can hardly be called music, but on the other hand they wrote Nothing Else Matters and amazing tracks like Unforgiven and No Leaf Clover (in my opinion, obviously). Those 2 last songs are what got me into Metallica, and despite having learned to like some of their more hardcore songs, those slow ones remain my favourites.

Wondering if any of you know other examples of this situation, headbanging bands making great slow songs out of the blue. Please share. ;)

I think Meti wanted to say that every kind of music is allowed to be discussed here, including the genres he listed. But to make everyone happy, he could have given "Pop, Rock, Metal, Classical, Electro, Goth/Wave, Rap, Hiphop, R'n'B, Country and their numerous sub-genres" as examples. I think this would satisfy everyone, since it includes most of the main categories.

The first band which came into my mind was Eisheilig. They were known for their more metal-oriented songs until their new album (Auf dem Weg in deine Welt) came out, which I think is absolutely fanatastic. It may sound somewhat dysharmonical at times, but it contains mostly slower songs with simply beautiful lyrics. The most touching one is really "Wird alles gut". It's amazing how Dennis' voice can even sound good in slower songs^.^

I don't normally listen to Metallica, their music isn't my style, you see, I listen to bands like

, Symphony X, and also Dream Theater

I also listen to alternative Rock bands like Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, Evanescense. Flyleaf, Paramore, and A Perfect Circle, also Daughtry....I Love Daughtry. The Lyrics are amazing. I evem listen to Three Doors Down, and Matchbox 20.

I'll also listen to alittle bit of Christian Rock, like Misty Edwards, Creed, etc..

Also, some Pop, like Rob Thomas,

Well actually Goth/Wave can be put under Electro and/or Rock, if you think about certain bands... But Meti, you should really add Pop and Electro to your first post to satisfy everyone.

EDIT:...and maybe the "their numerous sub-genres part" because my favourite styles would fit into the Metal category as well.

Well I love Music, to me Music is life. Myself would fall into the sub-category in rock. Which is Metal. I am a huge fan of all types of music, but I love Metal. I have a few bands, I would like you guys to maybe cheek out (Rock, Metal, Alternative, etc... all just Rock). They are Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Serj Tankian, Tokio Hotel, and Rise Against. These are just a few, tell me what you think of them.

You like Rise Against, which is really cool... and then you listen to Tokio Hotel?! :P

Just joking. ;)

The best band at the moment is Muse. Supermassive Black Hole and Starlight are their best songs.

Starlight made it to the UK charts ^_^

Unbelievably, I never took time to listen to Muse, and it's all over the place over here. I really have a lot of catching up to do... Better get myself an extra pair of headphones. :P

I'm only familiar with Disturbed's earlier works, which were really good. I was a really big fan some years ago. I still listen to some songs nowadays, namely The Game, Prayer, the completely crazy Liberate, Voices, Awaken and Down With the Sickness.

I'm not into buying CDs, but I'd appreciate if you could point out the best tracks of that album in your opinion. :)

yea the first two cds were good, ten thousand fist got alittle soft for my taste

but the new cd is much more hardcore most of the songs start off instantly loud instead of building up to it...worth every penny to by the few limited edition ones that are left

for 35 bucks you can buy it only online at disturbed1.com

Disturbed new album is epic' date=' Into the Flames is great. The new heavier sound is so good. I love the solos on the cd and the art is one of the best ive seen

[/quote']

yea but out of the three different album art choices...the limited edition[version i have] is the better one.

what i love about it is theres no slow or soft parts in it besides the opening to inside the fire and indestructible

but with indestructible its just the train and gun shots for 30 secs.

and with inside the fire[awesome music vid by the way] it only builds up for a little bit before going into the heavier parts.

So after getting bored a bit of general J-core (Sharpnel, Technorch, m1dy and the like), I've started listening to classic Rotterdam artists - Neophyte and Euromasters.

Anyone have recommendations concerning more gabba/Rotterdam?

Bodylotion's No Worries sounds a wee bit like the Beatles in some parts. I love it.
