Most of them are overpowered, because they basically get to hit, run, then overpower the opponent during the next turn. I'm not too sure how to improve on it.

deserter recall is the same effect as Gladiator Beast Respite, only you are taking cards that you are currently using to your deck.

 

GBR takes cards you havnt used yet from your hand to put back in the deck.

 

my card slows down their effects, thus not making it overpowered.

but this style of deck doesnt rely on hand advantage. this relys on keeping your cards removed from the field, and safe from other things to be played later.

 

the point of the card was to provide draw power, like GBR, but only it is depriving you of two monsters that use the RFG pile as part of their field.

 

you are taking out two monsters that you are already using. it is basically like tributing two monsters you control for three cards...

How about this, Kale?

This card cannot be Special Summoned, except by it's own effect. When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, you can remove this card from play during the End Phase. During your Main Phase, if this card is removed from play due to its own effect, then you can Special Summon it to activate 1 of the following effects: -Until the end of the turn, this card gains the following effect: When this card battles an opponent's monster, after damage calculation you can remove from play that monster and this card. Do not treat this as this card being removed from play by it's own effect.

-This card gains 300 ATK for each "Desserter Knight" monster in the removed from play zone.

Gladiators don't rely on hand advantage, either. But they have a hand support card to give them versatility. Whether you're needing your hand or not, you still need some kind of hand advantage.
