English IS fun' date=' I do enjoy writing on occasion, and especially the in-class debates.

It's the readings, you know?

[/quote']

ughh, the readings, killed me >.<

the books are sooooo, boring =(

Not when your reading a book that reads like a script and each student gets a part = Hilarity xD

oh i hate plays in class.

which is why i always act mine out a different, drug man, to skank, to drunk man mother, to skanks bf, etc..

the class likes me for it, the teacher hates me for it..

Your teacher must really suck then. When we used to "act out plays" our English teacher was glad to see we're not just doing a cold reading because:

1: It looks like we actually read it the night before (like we were supposed to).

2: It shows we were into the story, and could make the characters come to life as we read it.

I enjoyed being Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie.

English Class.... :/

It can be enjoyable when the subject is a good book like The Great Gatsby, which, mind you guys, was epic, or Animal Farm, which, mind you, allows me to disagree with every member of my class and repudiate all their anti-communist positions.

However, if I have to read another book about another funking jabroni and its abuse, I am going to shoot someone in the face. Seriously, if telling me Huck Finn uses the word jabroni over 200 times only kept me interested til about page 50, you're not getting the point across. If Death of a Salesman is just conditioning free will, it's not doing anything for me, and I swear to god if I didn't already know half the vocab words to begin with, I probably would have given up on it all together.

However, reading Brave New World shall be fun, because I already read it, and the Senior English project will be fun, because I can do it on Marx, Huxley, Thoreau or Ingersoll, which will be fun.

Oh, and on summer reading, we had this book that became a movie right around after we took the test on it, Into the Wild or something like that. Having read only up to page 40, I can say it's the worst book to have ever been written. I didn't even bother with this Summers, perhaps I should, but for now.

I'm at the point of, at least I have better friends in it this year, so it should go by fast, JUST SO I CAN GET RIGHT TO F-CKING AP CALC :/

I chose to read "of Mice and Men" after reading two other books, while I still had English (currently going to college now) in High School.

Though some books I know would make people fall asleep like "Grapes of Wrath" which was what I tried after "How To Kill A Mocking Bird", which yes is an okay book but the speech drove me off by so much at that time. I did also try reading the "How To Kill A Mocking Bird" which I read first and couldn't get past the the 5th page because it was sending me to snooze-land..

At the end of that same year we were going to perform.. SURPRISE! A Midnight Summer's Night Dream which god I should be thankful for as I was taking Drama I, at that time which made performing and rehearsal so much easier when doing that.

Some time during that year we were told to make comics at that time of our own character who could be German, Chinese, and (I forget the last one), though instead of making stick men with ease like 99.8% Me and one other boy decided to make the comics like what we read in Manga and make them really detailed which of course surpassed most stick men comics.

Towards the end of the year we studied about the Holocaust and after that we watched the movie "Schindler's List". (Unfortunately, I did say maybe once I was German and that became like signaling out the witch and burn her since your German while everyone is studying it)

So besides the book reading, English was pretty much okay then the horror stories being made of it.

I liked To Kill a Mockingbird. :/

In fact' date=' I like most of the classics, although a special place is reserved for Orwell. The one thing I don't like reading, is Shakespearian plays. Why? Because they are [i']plays.[/i] They are meant to be seen, not read.

Orwell was a f-cking moron, and the same goes for Lowrey. Big brother has every right to know what you are doing if and punish you if it isn't helping society, because we only exist to serve society.

@ Silencer: I have a huge feeling that if this thread was face to face, it would have ended with massive amounts of black jokes.

And for real, Black history sucks, I could care less if you were slaves, so were the natives, but because you exist in our country as a large minority, you feel that we should be taught to perceive your sufferings as something to learn from?

Oh, and I'm pretty sure YCMaker is black. Black people help society, but they just happen to have the most boring history to be taught to man.

You've got your own AP and regular history course, as well as an entire elementary/middle curriculum of that stuff.

You've got no rights to complain on it.

Observation: Wow, my thread hasn't gone off-topic past the fourth page in a blazing fireball of epic hatred.
