Evolution of the Fighting Spirit

It's been an awful long time since I've started running Six Samurai, and we've developed a long way since then.

This is what my Six Samurai currently perform as, including reasoning behind tech and Side Deck.

3x Great Shogun Shien

3x Grandmaster of the Six Samurai

3x The Six Samurai - Zanji

2x The Six Samurai - Irou

2x Hand of the Six Samurai

1x The Six Samurai - Kamon

3x The Six Samurai - Yaichi

2x Spirit of the Six Samurai

1x Tune Warrior

1x Neo-Spacian Grand Mole

Spells - 14

1x Book of Moon

1x Brain Control

1x Heavy Storm

1x Instant Fusion

1x Monster Reborn

1x Reasoning

3x Reinforcement of the Army

3x Six Samurai United

2x Warrior Returning Alive

Traps - 5

1x Double-Edged Sword Technique

1x Mirror Force

2x Solemn Judgment

1x Torrential Tribute

Side - 15

2x Dragonic Knight

1x The Six Samurai - Kamon

1x D.D. Crow

2x Black Horn of Heaven

3x Bottomless Trap Hole

2x Divine Wrath

2x Light-Imprisoning Mirror

2x Pulling the Rug

Extra - 11

1x Colossal Fighter

1x Avenging Knight Parshath

3x Stardust Dragon

1x Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth

1x Junk Warrior

1x Giltia the D. Knight

1x Flame Swordsman

1x Darkfire Dragon

1x Charubin the Fire Knight

I'm sure, going down the list, the first tech question was Tune Warrior. While I do think that it IS highly against the theme to try to use Tuners with just the Six Samurai, it also can't be denied that Stardust Dragon and other various Synchro monsters have high usability. It's a fair attacker, can be searched from the deck, and opens up this gateway for me, into Synchro ability. However, because of it's contradiction with Six Samurai, it brings us to the next tech card.

Instant Fusion is used with the Tune Warrior to Special Summon Flame Swordsman or Giltia the D. Knight to give me access to Stardust Dragon, Colossal Fighter, and Avenging Knight Parshath. It can also Special Summon Charubin the Fire Knight to enable Goyo Guardian, when it is within my possession, and Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth. Originally I was against using a Tuner, even with Instant Fusion, but the local meta has shown me that Stardust has it's uses. Also, Colossal makes a relatively safe return against Dark Armed Dragon, which is the biggest threat to my deck, as proven by my record at this year's National Championships.

The Neo-Spacian Grand Mole was originally a Destiny Hero - Doom Lord, but then I saw one laying by my deck and realized I could use it on both turns for the same basic purpose of clearing out big, irritating monsters without losing my Battle Phase that turn. You can't have good ideas all the time, but at least you can go back and fix them later, like just now.

Book of Moon is a relatively simple piece of tech also. Stardust Dragon doesn't have much defense, and can't stop Book of Moon. It's also good in the Six Samurai mirror match and against Gladiator Beasts.

My other piece of tech against Gladiators comes from my Side Deck. Dragonic Knight. Of course, this card works well against other decks, but I've found that it most consistently is useful against Gladiator Beasts. It stands up to Gyzarus, Bestiari, and Murmillo. Also, it holds ground versus Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and Dark Armed Dragon, plus it can be played as a harsh surprise after they use Cold Wave.

Another Kamon is sided because I didn't want to be blind-sided by Macro or Stall-Burn.

D.D. Crow stops Stardust, Darius, Grandmaster, Monster Reburn, and other popular cards in my area.

Black Horn of Heaven stops Gladiator Beasts, because it can be activated in the damage step. It also hits Stardust, Dark Armed, and Lightsworn.

Bottomless hits nearly everything this format.

Divine Wrath holds back every effect monster in the game, and works well against Gladiator especially, since it's heavily Monster effects.

Light Mirror knocks Lightsworn down a notch into just beatsticks, which I can usually handle.

And Pulling the Rug is to be 100% certain that I don't have to bother with Caius anymore, or rogue Gadgets. Also hits Stratos, Armageddon Knight, and Breaker the Magical Warrior.

That's basically the run down. Thanks for reading, you guys.

I cringe at your use of Tune Warrior. Jutte Fighter is clearly the best Tuner to use in Samurais.

Still, I'll respect your wishes and refrain from making the deck more oriented around Synchro Summons.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the presence of only one DD Crow in the side deck. You should be siding at least 2, and probably 3. Teleport Dark Armed only makes this more important.

Also, due to the obscenely large number of Level 3 monsters you are using, at least compared to the other levels, Reasoning isn't nearly as good as in past forms of Samurai. You do have the advantage of people not knowing to expect Level 3's to be predominant, as 4 was the best choice in the past. However, if you don't cut it, I would suggest that it be the first thing you side out during every match, as your opponent will likely quickly catch on.

I appreciate your meeting my distaste for Synchros on a larger scale. Thank you. I don't understand why Jutte Fighter is the best though. I understand Six Samurai very very well, but the choice of Tuner has me vexed. Tune Warrior can open level 8's with Grandmaster and level 6's with the TONS of level 3's I have. Believe me, if I had Goyo, I'd be using it.

I would have squeezed in Crow, but I couldn't find more room, while retaining what I had. I ALMOST want to drop 1-2 Pulling the Rug for 1-2 more D.D Crow, because I almost never use them, but I'm always so edgy about Caius in my meta. Grandmaster isn't a fan of the purple bastard. I know I have other side cards that can do the job, but it's an inane need to feel over-protected against them, I suppose. Just an odd thing for me.

And Reasoning is nearly the first card I go for now to side out. It's an easy choice after a surprise Yaichi or Hand. That and I side out the Synchro stuff if my opponent looks like they're not using a lot of "destroy" cards. I change to fit the occasion against plain "remove" effects.

@Pirate: Yeah, that's a fair idea. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

@Benraino: If I get another Solemn, I will consider that. Thank you very much.
